To NYI:
3rd
Korchinski
Rinzel
Moore
Greene
EDM
26 top ten protected 1st
To CHI:
Barzal
Dobson
Pelech
Why:
Chicago does this to acquire impact players at position of need getting Barzal to be an impact forward with Bedard and getting a top pair rhd to insulate levushunov and pelech to be the steady lhd vet to play with lev. This bolsters their forward core immediately giving the top 6 another much needed play driver to take pressure off of nazar and bedard. The d-core is immediately improved and would be among the best if they mesh First pair of: Vlasic-Dobson 2nd:Pelech-Lev/murphy 3rd:Kaiser-Murphy/Lev In all likelyhood chicago probably dumps murphy in this scenario for cap reasons. Of course they give up great futre assets and it hurts by losing 3rd Moore and Rinzel along with a 26 protected first as well but it should, and here is why New york does it.

The isle do this because they see the direction they're heading, sure they jumped up alot but they see this trend is going to keep happening as their core is aging out and they notice the only player in their forward system is eiserman and for defense sans shaeffer is pulikken. They need to bolster their prospect pool in a big way By guranteeing hagens who looks to still have a 1c ceiling despite the drop in his rankings, Moore who looks to also have solid mid six upside with a shot at being a bonafide 2c, Rinzel who looks to be an effective top 4 rhd who could pair very well with Shaeffer and be considered a top pairing guy. Then Korchinski a solid prospect who was rushed to early in the nhl due to lack of depth but a solid year in the ahl and former top 7 pick looks like he could still turn around and be a puck moving 3d along with ryan greene who had really solid years in the ncaa and a mid six forward. This bolsters the youth movement and prospect pool by securing a few grade A prospects and an elite talent in hagens They give up a 1c in barzal not an elite 1c but still a top 20ish guy who was injured last year and is turning 28,Dobson capable of elite 1d play but his production fell of a bit last year but still solid numbers in the role regardless and pelech an underated top 4lhd they sacrifce three major pieces in their current core but pelech is 30 barzal is 28 along with dobson 25 an rfa who might have contract issues not old at all but old for a core that is going to transitioning to rebuild mode especially since they missed the playoffs and the core didn't get it done this trade puts them in the hunt for Mckenna and securing a hometown guy in hagens.Nyi prospect pool after trade:
Shaeffer
Hagens
Eiserman
Korchinski
Rinzel
Moore
Ritchie
Greene

Rinzel is nigh untouchable for Hawks and it seems like Moore and Greene will both be in the NHL this fall.

For Chicago this would be a reckless and irresponsible demolition of a rebuild process for no real reason.

This is a video game trade.
drop rinzel and greene and replace them with reichel, donato moore should definitley be in play for a number 1 dman in their prime

I think the OP is referring to Ethan Del Mastro as EDM. But the Hawks say absolutely not. I wouldn't even make that trade if it were 3OA and Rinzel alone.
you wouldn't take a 1c,1d and 3d for 3rd ovr and a very promising but still unproven player at the nhl level

From the Hawks POV, I wouldn't trade Rinzel straight up for Dobson. So you are looking at, essentially, the 3 OA, Korshinski, and a 26 1st for Barzal which is laughable to me.
I mean I like all the players the op mentioned and all that. But the guys and pick he wants just sortve makes the whole rebuild useless.

They still wouldn’t win by adding those three.

It would just be dumb move for Chicago and a nice move for New York.

so instead of rinzel and moore what about kaiser and donato instead?
I just don't see a match here between the 2 teams. Barzal is 28 and has 6 more years left on his deal with injury history. Pelech is 30 with 4 more years left and the Hawks coming out of their rebuild don't find either of these assets particularly attractive given the situation they're in. They want younger players who will peak when their core does or vets who can fill out the roster, don't have a ton of term, and don't cost them picks or prospects that they like.

Sure, Dobson is a good young player but due for a big contract and the Hawks already have 2 promising albeit unproven right handed defensemen who are even younger, cheaper, and not due for an extension for another 2 seasons. And if he's so good, why is a young RHD available in trades?

I don't think the Isles have a single asset that I'd be happy if the Hawks gave up a significant prospect or player for other than 1OA. And you're not going to like what I'd be willing to offer for it.

I get that the Islanders are in somewhat of an exciting position with the first overall pick but if you want to fully reset, call a team like Columbus, Anaheim, Utah, or Montreal who are further along in their rebuilds, know more about the guys they want to keep or trade, have cap space, draft capital, and young players you might want.

Chicago management is very high on Korchinski and Moore. Rinzel looked suprisingly ready to NHL in the end of this season. Chicago following writers are high on Greene and EDM was good last season.

I would take anyone of the Islanders 3 but there is no point selling assets until we are good enough to be in playoffs.

With all this no thanks.

Rinzel isn't being traded and isn't available.

If Islanders are offering Schaefer / Misa / 1st pick then sure, Chicago maybe makes a deal based around that. Otherwise, nah. "Fair value" doesn't matter if Chicago has no interest in moving him. Overpay or move along.
