Point has proved it more than enough times in the playoffs. I am not knocking Debrincat, just not sure I could give up that much for someone who has not played in the NHL Playoffs.

Would you trade Svechnikov for that package? If yes then it is probably close to fair. If no then it probably isn't
But that's not what the trade is and it's not about what the TC thinks would be a good trade for Svechnikov.

So, do YOU think TC's proposal is a fair trade to get DeBrincat?

Buffalo fans talking about the playoffs is hilarious.

This trade is not close at all for DeBrincat. Two prospects that haven’t lived up to expectations and two late firsts for a guy that has put up 40 goals and is 70-ppg player even with Strome and Kahun/Perlini as his linemates.

I personally think Debrincat wears the "C" once Toews is gone, so it would have to be an overpayment to trade him, IMO.

Not sure he fits Carolina's need either.

Idk who TC is but I assume you are referring to the OP.

Regardless no I think this trade is a bit better than the Hagel return.

Right now this trade seems like a Quality for Quantity move. If I were the Hawks (or even a Hawks fan) I would want something more like the Eichel trade. With an extension in place as well.
Necas = Tuch
Jarvis = Krebs
Then 2 1sts because 1 year younger, healthy and more control

How have you been on this board since 2016 and not know about the reply button? Only reason I saw this was because the comment right after this did ping me

You realize DeBrincat has 9 playoff games and had 6 points in them right? I am also not comparing to point at all, I'm calling put your horrible take on his size actually mattering even though he has clearly proven that wrong his entire career, and so have many other players

You are trading 4 1sts for a short winger. You coukd have acquired Eichel for that.

between now and summer 2024 you have a ton of wingers who either are UFAs now or will be in 23 or 24.

I think he hitsUFA in 2024. 24 also sees Matthews and Aho being UFAs. Nylander is one top

UFAs now are Johnie hockey, Forsberg, burakovsky, and others
UFAs in 2023 are Pasternik, Fiala, Olofsson, Huberdeau, Miller, I think tkachuk, Laine
Boesser is an RFA who is a UFA in 24

how much did Debrincat play with Kane on the same line During his career. It’s a fair question to ask.

some scoring stats are affected by system a player plays in.
another factor…some regular season pointgetters disappear in the playoffs in ES situations.

look at Toronto and the problems they are having due to 4 highly paid forwards. If you acquire him, and thrn resign Aho, and Svech you will have 3 high salaried forwards. What aboutJarvis?

then there is the D in a couple years.
Well than why not switch Svech with Debrincat. Carolina needs more goals.

At end of day if one read the Canes boards regularly, they would see Necas is not that highly regarded so why would Hawks view him as a centerpiece of Debrincat deal?

Necas regressed this past year and again was awful in playoffs

He has not shown he is good enough to be a consistent top 6 forward also he is way too much of a perimeter player

what happened to the islanders this year? Coukd thst happen to any other team?

There is no playoff guarantee. In the metro you have Columbus and New Jersey who could move up in contention. Pittsburgh and Washington are older and coukd fall. Carolina could easily end up in the battle among 3rdplace/WC/ just miss area. The pick then is 14-20 range pre lottery.

i though Necas is an RFA.

who are Carolina goalies? You want to bet on that?
Andersen was great this season till he got hurt and Raanta is one of the best backups in the league. And that Russian kid has a lot of upside. So I'd definitely bet on Carolina goalies next season. And if you are adding Debrincat for futures and no one that played a significant role, I'm including Necas, then that makes Carolina even stronger. I feel confident Carolina is a playoff team for the next couple seasons. And while I understand Carolina saying no, if they want Debrincat they'll have to move Jarvis.

It's not Buffalo fans. It's one guy. And most of his posts on the trade board are some variation of "There's no way that player nets those draft picks!"

TC=topic creator. Same thing as OP.

Also, there is no way Carolina is trading Jarvis after his amazing rookie season; playoffs included.

Canes gonna need to do better than offer up their 2nd rate prospects they themselves aren’t excited about anymore if they want to get DeBrincat since their first rounders sure as hell won’t be that appealing being in the mid to late 20s

Basically it comes down to Hawks needing more than that package, but more than that becomes too much for the Canes (Jarvis). So probably not a deal to be had here.

Hawks just keep DeBrincat and keep him around for their rebuild rather than move him for an average package.

Is Chicago rebuilding again? They just paid a fortune for Jones, so why give up Debrincat?

the old GM is the one that tried to jump start the rebuild with Jones. Mcabb, fluery and Johnson and it fell flat on its face. So now the true rebuild starts. I dont get the sense from the TDL he will force things. it was dscussed that kubalik strome and dehann were available and he did not move them because the offers he felt were well below market value. if he moves CAT for a solid return that probably also means Kane and Teows might want out. teows at 50% would return something and Kane at 50% would be a good return. he would trade jones as well but he would have to retain for 8 years which I doubt he would ever do. there has been a few rumblings about Murphy being available as well.
