There is quite the collection of Chevy working his magic, in spite of being at a disadvantage of being in a small market that few UFA's want to play in.

First there was the Kane trade, which Winnipeg won outright.

Then letting Ladd walk, and freeing up cap space. Ladd receded and was bought out later.

Acquisition of Paul Stastny in 2018.

The PLD trade, where we fleeced LA

Signing Hellebuyck and Scheifele so they end their career with the Jets.

And finally....


Trading away McGroarty for Yager.

Yager continues to shine, and will certainly compete in the WJC, while McGroarty has done a big pile of nothing with Wilkes-Barre Scranton AHL club.

So three cheers for Chevy! The best GM in the league.

Agreed, but Ladd rejected Chevy’s offer in that example. Chevy dodged a bullet there.

Chevy is incredibly patient. He waits til the last minute to get the best possible deal whether it is a trade or a signing. He's also content to let players develop before throwing them into the fire - longer than most franchises would. Some fans don't like that... but the results are there.

Agreed the Ladd situation worked out well, but it also adds weight to the fact that Chevy doesn't go past his number and overpay.
