A lot of discussion on these threads lately regarding Jets players, UFAs, RFAs that we think should maybe be dropped or traded this summer or at draft.

How would you like the team to look next year. Here's your chance to be the manager and decide on who should be kept and dropped/traded this summer.

I'm not sure how to present a poll for some of these choices - perhaps someone with better knowledge on that could set it up?

Dump: (trade) Pavs, Kane, Jokinen, Seto, Halsichuk, Slater, ThorNburn

Obviously no one will want Pavs, Seto, Halischuk or ThorNburn

Kane, Jokinen and Slater bring some return

We can still resign him easily enough if we and he wants.

Not sure how to edit the poll question (anybody know how?) to properly reflect that we are voting on players that we would keep, resign (or that we want to see on the team to start next season).

Surely there can't be that many people that want or expect to see Pavs back!!

Sorry, I was responding to sip who was suggesting that we could get something for Jokinen.

Only way would be for a mod to clear out the votes and redo it for you. Should probably be something simple like:

Who do you want to keep?

...with the checkmark signifying keep. Can't do much else with polls other than a yes/no, unfortunately.

If he signs for less and we can bridge a year until we sort out 3C (Burmi, Lowry, Petan, etc), then I'm OK with re-signing him too.

My issue with letting Joker walk is that we're an injury away from being in the spot we are in now.
It's not as though we have tons of NHL caliber centres kicking down the door.

Why are people against bringing Joki back? I would bring him back at, at a reduced rate obviously.

1-2 years 2.8M/year, he obviously likes playing here, he knows he won't get another contract like he did again. His other option would be to retire, I don't see another team paying him $4+ Million to sign him as good as he is teams don't have the space.

Let Setoguchi, Thorburn, Pardy and Halischuk walk.

Re-sign Jokinen and Montoya to reasonable deals (no more than $3 million for Jokinen, $1 million range for Montoya, nothing more than 2 seasons)

Re-sign Frolik to something like 4 years $16 million.

Qualify Wright, Ellerby, O'Dell, Albert, Cormier and Hutchinson.

The only big moves I'd like to see in the offseason is Buff moved for a young top 6 forward and #4 LHD, along with upgrading goaltending somehow.

I think we should resign Frolik long term. He's just so versatile. If Olli can be signed for a year closer to 3 Mil then I'm ok with that too.

Thorburn, Wright, Hali, Pardy, Ellerby etc. can get out. Our bottom 6 is junk and keeping them around in the place of some of our prospects or new UFAs doesn't make sense. It's been shown they don't work so even if we don't get an obvious upgrade, there's no chance for an upgrade on those positions if we keep them.

CURRENT UFAs:
Jokinen - KEEP for the right price only. Don't overpay for what was probably a contract year performance this season. Don't expect the same effort next year.
Setoguchi - DROP, he's done absolutely nothing.
Montoya - KEEP again for the right price. He's still just a backup, a decent backup, but a backup.
Thorbs - DROP, big tough players with no hands are a dime a dozen
Pardy - MEHH! I'd be interested to see what Pardy can do without Ellerby. That pairing makes me very uneasy.

CURRENT RFAs:
Frolic (RFA) - KEEP, by far Chevy's best acquisition and that's kinda scary
Halischuk - DROP, just doesn't do enough out there
Wright - DROP, There's gotta be a younger AHLer that can do the same or maybe a bit more.
Ellerby - MEHH, see Pardy
O'dell - KEEP, probably should've been here sooner pushing guys that have become too comfortable with just showing up.
Albert - MEHH, AHLer
Cormier - KEEP, I love the effort this guy puts in when he plays
Hutchinson - KEEP, Comrie, Hellebuyck or Hutch are the future in 3 years

Slater (2015 UFA) - KEEP, hopefully he can stay healthy, I like his effort and his leadership
Peluso (2015 RFA) - KEEP, he can hit, skate, and move the puck well for a "tough guy"

Ladd (2016 UFA) - KEEP, I'm happy with the captain
Buff (2016 UFA) - KEEP for the time being as long as he's playing forward. It's funny how half a season can change things. There isn't a person left on the planet that still thinks Buff is a legit D-man (cause he isn't). Buff's window might close fast though as guys his size usually start falling apart.
Clitsome (2016 UFA) - KEEP if we can't upgrade. I still think we need a top 4 stay at home D-man to round out this core.
Pavelec (2017 UFA) - KEEP for the time being. #'s haven't been great, but I don't think a decent replacement comes around this season. There's nothing spectacular on the UFA goalie list, and it doesn't appear as though many teams are stocked with goalie depth. I'm sure Ward would be available, but that won't improve things and it'll probably cost us more. Maybe after next year Pav goes, but not this year.
Kane - (2018 UFA) - KEEP, he skates, he checks, he has a great shot, but I just wish he had some hands. Both Kane and Wheeler or so predictable. Fast down the outside with the puck followed by a quick shot on net. I wish both those guys had better hands and could take the puck to the net. I'm not ready to give up on Kane yet. I just see Kane making us look very stupid if he gets dealt
Enstrom (2018 UFA) - KEEP, but see Clitsome

I like slater but way to injury prone I think u have to break up old core us by getting rid of ladd u should get a 2 nd line winger for him. Money from seto and jokinen should result in a high end player

Keep Hutch, drop Pavs and Gooch. Keep Jokinen if he's willing to take a huge pay cut. And go get Burmi. And keep Frolik.
