Post-Game Talk: Checkers lose to Red Wings, 2-1

I liked the fight from the guys yesterday. Detroit was desperate for points and we weren't. I have no idea what possesses the hockey gods to make sure every goalie has their best game of the season against us but for the second game in a row we outplayed the other team handily 5v5 but didn't get points.

having fun yet?

chucky will be back. he's not going to go down without even trying. the guy dressed (with help) with a broken sternum ffs. the question is how effective will he be? nobody knows.

what this seems like to me deboer era panthers - structured play with good effort but lacking the top-end players. guys are playing too much and/or against harder matchups.

maurice seems super pragmatic about things - said he isn't worried about wins and losses right now, just about how we look and that guys who need to are healing for the playoffs. imo, the guys on the ice look good (well, except for verhaeghe.
:naughty:
), even if the results aren't there.

it's a bold move to sit so many players with playoff seeding on the line. we'll see if it pays off.

Paul Maurice is pretty arrogant and cocky and if he’s not panicking I’m going to blindly follow him lol

It's pretty clear the coaching staff and management have done their homework and figure they have a gameplan for every single team they may face in round one, and with that in place their focus shifts to getting healthy.

That's why they're resting 8 regulars on a back-to-back. This team, from top to bottom, President of Hockey Ops to the waterboys, knows what it takes to for a deep run in the playoffs. People are accusing them of tanking but all they are is extremely calculated. They don't give a single f*** about losing to Detroit in some forgotten regular season game in early April. They want their names engraved again this year. That's all that matters. It's why they shut down Chucky, it's why they got Marchand, it's why Balinskis played 19 minutes last night.

There is one goal in mind right now and the whole organization seems hyper-focused on accomplishing it.

How have you determined this trameframe for Tkachak's return?

Playoffs start in 2 weeks and he barely been skating (from what we know at least). So I don't see how he could be ready for game 1.

With all that being said, I keep some hope for the playoffs based on Maurice attitude. He seems fine with everything that is happening right now and doesn't look worried at all.
