Why wouldn’t we be coasting? The team didn’t just lose all its talent? lol

We actually lost some talent:

Ekblad will miss the first two games.

Tkachuk will miss at least the first two games too. We might even not see him at all in the playoffs.

Verhaeghe is having a down year. He could bounce back in the playoffs, but I don’t see him being the clutch player he’s been in the last two runs.

Montour and Ekman L. haven’t really been replaced.

I thought they were coasting few weeks ago. But right now, they just look cooked. Like if all the hockey they’ve played in the last 2-3 years is starting to catch them up.

There’s no way they win a playoffs round this year. Better yet, it’s not going to be close. I see them losing in 4 or 5.

Jones will be good by playoffs. Marchand will start finding the back of the net. Barky and Kuli will be back for the last couple of games before playoffs. The rest of the core like Samo will have more experience and confidence.

Tkachuk is the only question mark but I think they’re hiding that he’s in a better spot than thought.

Verhaeghe is the only one who really needs to get his shit together.

At this point it is what it is. You can downplay home field in the playoffs all you want, but I really think that if Game 7 in the finals last year was played in Edmonton we wouldn’t have won it.

Toronto is a better/heavier version of themselves this year, hope the team didn’t underestimate their opponent.
