Great news, no idea who those guys are but literally can't be worse than the Hornets have been under MJ...
Not a concern, the lease at Spectrum was extended to 2045. And it would not make any sense at all to move out of this growing market at this point. Imagine a consistent playoff contending Hornets team, the city would go crazy for them, hard to get excited when every year you know the absolute ceiling is just over .500 and a first round loss like it has been the last few decades. While I welcome the departure of MJ majority ownership, I am now kind of concerned for the future of the Hornets in Charlotte. At least MJ had ties here.
As long as owners are willing to hold state and local governments hostage, only a small select few teams are truly safe. I'm talking Yankees, Cowboys, etc.Not a concern, the lease at Spectrum was extended to 2045. And it would not make any sense at all to move out of this growing market at this point. Who knows what the Hornets do as usual even with MJ out, but I'd actually argue Scoot is the more athletic player. But he can also play basketball. Miller is less athletic/has less measureables but is a more experienced player. Scoot has more upside while Miller is safer and probably has the higher floor.I haven't been following the draft beyond Wembanyama to the Spurs (because of course). Hornets are going to draft Miller, yes?
Is he the yearly "lotto pick who gets selected high bc athleticism but can't play basketball?"
It's not just that MJ did nothing, he actively failed at everything he tried to do with the Hornets, most of the time actively making the team worse.I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but it baffled me.
How does someone buy a team for $250 million, accomplish literally nothing during the entire ownership, and then sell it for $3 billion?
I want the economy the super rich get to deal in. I want my bank account to multiply exponentially while I sit around and do nothing.

And he saw his investment balloon by 11x over 13 years. f***ing insane. And as an aside the main reason why the suggestion that Dundon is going to sell the Canes anytime soon because the short term just isn't doing what he wants is crazy. You don't buy a team to worry about annual P&L, you do it for the long term ROI.
The first million is the hardest.I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but it baffled me.

TWolves sold back in 2021 for a $1.5 bill valuation. That seemed to be based off the Clippers and Rockets sales at $2 - $2.2 billion in larger markets. But then after that sale you saw Milwaukee go for $3.5 bill, Phoenix go for $4 bill. Thus based on the last 2 transactions it does make sense for the Hornets to go for $3 bill.I do agree the Hornets have zero business being valued that high but the league got a huge jump in revenue when they re-upped with ESPN/ABC in 2015. That's also when the salary cap jumped by some $20 million and players like Nic Batum and Timofey Mozgov were getting insane contracts.
Karl Anthony Towns is delusional.

Minny owners seemed to have undervalued their team. ARod got a great deal.
f***Let me be the first to say, on behalf of all NC pro basketball fans:
