Confirmed with Link: Charlotte Checkers sign Jesse Puljujarvi to a PTO

Apparently Pulju still doesn't know much English. I'm not sure if it's an effort thing or if he's just not good at learning a new language, but either way this is probably as good as an environment he could ask for given we have the most Finnish players in the league. (And if he's satisfied possibly playing on the 4th line)

Don't mind this at all.

Dont let him make it to the main squad, because I swear to all that is holy....the league is cooked.

I'm kinda lost at this one, usually when a player leaves an NHL contract midseason it's to go to Europe, but yeah he's signed a tryout with the Panthers AHL team. It's literally no risk but I wonder if the Panthers want to throw him in at some point to see how he looks. You'd figure he's been promised a look at some point?

Of course, it's like a try-out. At worst, he helps Charlotte win a few games.

Not expecting much. Potential was always there but never figured it out. I think he’s just dumb as f***.

I think it's a combo of laziness and he needs to have the right fit. If he doesn't make it here, he won't any where.

It's with Checkers. It's not a contract with us. So we cant call him up. Right?

It is a PTO with Checkers. He needs to sign an NHL deal before he can be called up to play for the Panthers.

What do you think, is it an impossible mission to beat one of your 3rd or 4th line wingers for a job? How good are they?

Unless there are major injuries or he suddenly becomes a player I dont see him making the Panthers this year. I wouldnt mind him as a project next season as we have plenty of finns to help him and finnish coach

You will see that Jesse is better than Sullivan allowed him to be.

I hope so. I always like him

He has a shot. It depends on how Maurice views his play, if he can get a look with the NHL team.

I don't mind the signing, but right now I don't think the Panthers can pull Greer out of the lineup on a regular basis.
This.

He would need to beat out Boqvist, Gadjovic (who is already the odd man out as is), or Nosek.

On paper, it would be Nosek provided that PoMo trusts Jesper to become to 4C.

Jesse would not sniff the 2nd line. Samo, Erod, and Jesper holds that spot on that line in that order.

I doubt he would sniff the 3rd line either.

It would have to be the 4th line and does Jesse have that dog in him? I mean he got the tongue, but thats not enough.

Just pull Nosek. He's a warm body, and Boqvist at 4C would be a lateral move.
Even if Puljujarvi can't score from the fourth line, he's big, fast, he hits, and he puts (heavy) shots on net. At worst, he'll be what Tippett tried to be during his final months here.

He's extremely hard working but the problem is that he has difficulties in understanding other players on ice because of his limited hockey IQ. Therefore he needs regular line mates and a simple system where he knows what to do. Maybe intelligent players in locker room like Barkov could help him to understand the system. He doesn't have a great shot and makes mistakes in defense but because of his size he is quite good in front of the net.

Florida doesn't need Puljujärvi but he could be valuable because injuries might take place and we don't have many players in rotation.

Yeah there's no reason not to sign him if he wants to be here.
This is the most shallow roster we've had during the Zito era. He's a free 12th forward who can push Gadjovich out of the rotation and give us options to shake up the Bottom 6.

Just because he wants to sign here, doesnt mean we SHOULD. Depth is nice, but we need any and whatever cap space we have on a D-Man.

Preferably someone who is right handed.

How exactly would signing a guy to an NHL minimum contract harm your cap space?

The guy works hard and clearly isn't playing just for the money, so I can respect that. Sounds like someone who just needs the right environment and willingness to accept a lesser role than his draft position would dictate. May be this year, may be next year, but this is a no risk move with potential payoff for a decent 3rd/4th liner. The more Finns the better I say.
