not exctly the same, but esophagus / windpipe injuries are severe

I don't think that's true. He has not had a great year, but he's not a net loss by any means
I don't think it is unfair at all to say he has literally had 3 "great games" beginning with G5 last year and ending with Saturday night. One RS game has been great and he has had a batch of good RS games and too many games where he was inconsequential and a few "bad" games.

Not what you expect from a top 5 d man or even top 10.

Players do have off years. We don't really know what's going on with him. I wouldn't give up on him just yet.
nope, agreed and if he were moved and not replaced properly, he`d be missed, not sure what top 4 pure shut down d man who eats minutes at that price is or would be available

also willing to give Zadorov and Lindholm one mulligan, 3/4 coaches, in last year or so, 3 cities, 3 different systems and teammates, if they are hot garbage next year though.....I`m all over them :)

His biggest issue IMO is no Lindholm. He needs someone like that to shine. I am not dealing him unless a get a RHD top 4 back.

I like Z. He's my kinda player, wears his heart on his sleeve, undisciplined to a fault, but you can't replicate that.

Lindholm I am hoping gets his wrist operated on and comes back Nov-Dec next year because he should be a better offensive player than he is showing. The big issue is like @EverettMike said at the time of signing he wasn't going to mesh with Pasta, and it's clearly evident.

Why is trading him giving up on him? I never understood that logic. Why can't it be simply that the time has come for a different player with a different skill-set to occupy his spot? It's not a knock on Carlo, the make-up of this team has changed, the system is changing, the entire league is evolving.

Can Carlo evolve? Very few players get to coast on their laurels so-to-speak their entire careers. He seems like the exact same player now that he was 6 years ago. Useful, but maybe not the right fit here anymore.

I think it's because trading him now means trading him at a low point in his career trajectory. At his peak, he's one of the better defensive RH dmen in the league and can be trusted to be given heavy defensive minutes. Seeing how RH dmen with size and the talent to play in a top 4 is a rare commodity in the league, it's a roll of the dice in trying to find someone better.

I wouldn't be upset if they moved on as long as the price was right but I think that would signal the Bruins are punting on the season, with McAvoy now out week to week. Peeke would be our defacto top pairing RHD.

What was his peak? 6 years ago? I don't buy that you are selling low either. If the offers are that bad, then don't make the move right now.

This season is a write off and no one said trade him tomorrow either. I'm only concerned with preparing for next season. Carlo's under contract.

And even if it wasn't, I don't see how trading a Carlo-level player signals your waiving the white flag either. Same with Frederic. Non essential pieces. Vastly overrated on this board.

McAvoy is week-to-week there are 8 weeks left to the season.

I think Carlo can fetch a good young prospect, a 5th or 6th dee on a teams depth chart and a mid draft pick.
Oilers and Stars would be a good fit for him/us.
IMO I trade him, the change of scenery would do both parties well.

Interesting verbiage in the recent statement. Seems like they call out "Boston Bruins Medical staff" very clearly and deliberately. I can imagine the Bruins are NOT happy with the team USA medical staff. Especially if the injury happened in the Finland game and then he played in the Canada game.

I wonder how this impacts teams willing to release their players for this tournament if they choose to do it again after the Olympics.. Back to square one with NHL players on the international stage...

Hope Chuckie gets well soon.
I agree, they let him play and play a very physical game to detriment of his career and Boston's future. I am sure those big hits on McDavid took a further toll. The All Star game is a lot safer but boring, lets hope he heals and shut him down till he is 100% healthy.

Plenty of folks have been saying trade him yesterday for a long time, which is what I assume partially sparked Bonvie's comment.

Subtracting McAvoy + Carlo with no current viable top 4 replacements ( unless one comes back in trade ) makes the Bruins job of making the playoffs with the standings the way they are impossible unless the Bruins start to get extremely lucky. The Bruins record without McAvoy over the years has been good, but if we are talking about the scenerio where both McAvoy and Carlo are gone, the defense down the stretch becomes

Lindholm -- Peeke

Zadarov -- Lohrei

Callahan -- Wotherspoon

That's kinda rough.

Is Carlo a #4 RHD? If he is, would not trade him for anything less than a 1st round draft pick. Hopefully that pick lands you a legit replacement D. Maybe you take a 2026 1st rounder as next year's draft seems deeper? Carlo was originally a 2nd round pick.

Isn't this similar to the injury Trevor Story had last year? If so, hard to believe he's going to be back before the season ends.

That’s lottery slot material in a non playoff year. If you get a good offer for Carlo, bye-bye

Team USA docs can see inside joints now. Impressive

According to the Bruins, McAvoy complained of increased pain once Team USA arrived in Boston on Sunday.
Will some explain why if back in Boston, McAvoy didn't call Sacco or Neely before
he got medical care by US Medical Staff? McAvoy isn't a little kid, he is an adult and has gone thru surgeries. He has some responsibility also and I would think Neely isn't happy with him either.

McAvoy is a tough dude. Played through it and then when the infection developed the pain is unbearable and it moves fast. Nothing anyone really did unless it's the AC damage they missed?

The McAvoy injury - on top of the Shea Theodore injury-is going to have major repercussions in future tournaments....these two injuries in particular set the stage for an interesting push-pull between players wanting to play and management wanting to protect their assets

Given the huge tv numbers, Bettman will be squarely in the players corner on this one.

Tomorrow night will be very interesting - you know both teams will be going full bore and inevitably someone else will be getting injured/dinged-up. Hoping the US comes out on top but being the Canadians twice in a row is not easy, even with a full line-up

Seems to me in the Bruins statement they are calling out the Team USA medical staff, not the Bruins Staff...Charlie should never been allowed to play vs Canada if he had a damaged AC joint from the Finland game. Bruins management are likely furious, or they should be if the statements are valid..

They should most likely shut him down for the season. If he's out a month and the Bruins go on a slide, compounding with likely trading away roster pieces at the deadline.. There wouldn't really be a point to bringing him back.

Maybe the only reason I would think of is to get him some game action before the end of the year? Kind of like Barmore and the Patriots?

Considering Friedge's comments in that tweet, it seems like we're onto it.. We're back to this discussion. Personally, I think if you were to ask the players.. They want this tournament. I do too.

Yeah, I mean.. That's what I meant if it doesn't read that way haha.

Seemed like they said "We (The Boston Bruins Medical Staff) did the work here and he's really hurt AND has an infection from an injury they neglected to look into."

They have every right to be furious and it seems they are.
