Sorry my mistake.I would agree more if he used his size but he is a marshmellow. But those stats u posted suggest you are right about him ...Anyhow ,thankfully not long till deadline is here and we get some answers from management about team direction.Ps.The defensive zone starts are because he cant help on offense very much but again good point backed with stats

Or because he's a very good shutdown d-men. You'd expect a guy with high d-zone starts to be lower on a list of fewest GA/60, yet he's towards the top. I get the "marshmallow" comment. I wish he had a mean streak like Zadorov and would punish guys. Then again Zadorov ranks 252th in GA60 and 228th HDGA/60. Would I rather guys get laid out or pucks staying out of my goal

It's great points and the numbers support what you are saying, so I can't really say much to dispute it from that standpoint.

Is it an outlier season or is Carlo more suited to a more collapsing style of defending? He spent his entire career basically in the Julien system of zone defense. Whether it's a tough adjustment or he just doesn't read the game well enough.

That's enough years of running McAvoy and Carlo as right shot D #1 and #2. Time for a different skillset at that position. McAvoy is going nowhere so that leaves Carlo. Watching these 4 Nations you can see what an asset it is to have D-men who are assets on the offensive zone blue-line, opens everything else up. Time to change the approach even Carlo is a capable player in his own end (in maybe the right system).
I would bet good money that Carlo was maybe lightly concussed by Jamie Benn earlier this season.

By the way, that’s on me and just my opinion. Have not seen or “heard” something.

Ty Anderson on the Sports underground podcast says that the injury to Mac is not a previous injury or from the McDavid hits. He says it may be related to the Joel Armia cross check he took to his throat.vs. Finland. He said the infection is related to the injury, it is not the injury.

Infections are tricky. They can range from nothing to life threatening. In Mac's case, I would think they would worry about a heart lining infection. I have no medical knowledge unlike some here, so just guessing.
I’m liking, but not liking.

Agree completely. With Mac’s heart history as an extremely healthy young man is something they will take extremely seriously. Probably a good part of the reason he was admitted, presumably, almost immediately experience whatever symptoms.

Sending extremely good vibes to Charlie Mac.

OK, Joel Armia is on my shit list then.

Christ almighty he must have got him good. I didn't see that play.

Didn't get cross checked in the throat, he got cross checked in the back and went shoulder/neck first into the post. Looked like he was hurting pretty good when he got up.

You gave food for thought, I certainly would not say it may not be the case.

I think both have a place on a team, balance is so important, how many teams win when they are one dimensional.

I learned as a kid to pay attention there are signs anppearing all around guiding us ~ the day my grandmother told me this I heard a song on the radio by Five Man Electronical Band called Signs. I took it as a sign my grandmother was on to something.

McAvoy injury/illness is a sign. Not going to happen this season Donny.

listen to my grandmother. Sell, sell, sell

I agree with you 100% and have said so in several posts about Carlo. He's been skating in a fog ever since that hit. I know he came back into the game but with his history I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he was concussed. It is why I've refused to shit all over the guy the way a lot of other posters do.

A great opportunity, if done right, and done right is by starting with moving on from Marchand he’s your biggest chip use it. I’d package him with Carlo or TFred and bring back a NHL ready prospect or two along with picks.

Your grandmother was absolutely correct.

sounds like he's going to be out a few weeks. death knell in this crap season.

Don't the Bruins have a pretty good record in games Charlie has missed over the last 3 seasons?

Agreed. Maybe he brings it back to the Bruins. He needs to get healthy now and then do that.
Its up to Sacco now to understand the correct role they will get best out of McAvoy. If they forget him as deeplying playmaker and PP QB. He should be much better. Hes more like physical version of Glen Wesley instead of Ray Bourque and thats how Sullivan uses him in the national team. No need to be highlight reel D-man, just be physical and play the game.

Bang on. At times where Charlie runs into problems is when just tries do to much or should I say the coaching staff puts him in that position way to often.

Let’s be honest, Mcavoy has played one good game all year and it was last Saturday. He has not been good for well over a year and plays one game under a new coach and is outstanding. Maybe some of his incredibly poor play is on Monty and Sacco?

I don’t remember it either.

not exctly the same, but esophagus / windpipe injuries are severe

I don't think that's true. He has not had a great year, but he's not a net loss by any means

At 9.5 the way he’s played for the last year and a half? Loss. — I’m wanting to blame Monty and Sacco for some of it. Unless he just wanted to impress his father in law.
