7 is out, obviously.

77 is out, obviously.

How about 66...... not that it is relevant to McAvoy, I'd just like to rub it in the face of those ass wipe fans who think Mario is somehow League Royalty.

Hell, forget McAvoy. Change Hayes from 11 to 66. DO IT!

Welcome to Bruins Charlie!!

Not that it's very important but I hope that when he reaches Boston he gets a better number than 43....
Hate those high numbers, especially for a defenseman, but I'm (real) old school.

No one will wear number 43 for a long time. Bart earned that right. :sarcasm:

They will give him a better number... Hamilton was 53 in the preseasons here, Pasta was some gross number, Lucic was 62, Chiller was something gross... He'll get his pick. :)

OK, I get it...... no one wants McAvoy to have 66.

So how about this...... We sign Matt Cooke to a one day contract and give him 66. He starts the game and Quaider is also in starting lineup.At the drop of the puck, 54 mercilessly beats the snot out of him. 66 doesn't skate another shift.

Only question is can two guys from same team get 5 for fighting for same fight?

Having seen McAvoy play only a handful of times, I liked his physicality but for those who have seen him more, does the kid have a nasty side to him? Not that I`m concerned more curious about it

After going back and watching the 2013 playoffs the other night we are severely lacking in the physicality department, Boychuk was destroyyyyying bodies, heres hoping McAvoy takes a similar stance in his play.

yep, I would like to see this team with one D-man who literally hates opponents who even think about going to the net and makes life miserable for them.

I think Quaider and K Miller generally play that way but I find often their lack of foot speed doesn`t allow them to get themselves into position before the opponent

I don't think that's really McAvoy's game. He seems to love to throw big hits and ends up in some dustups because of that, but I don't foresee him throwing down a ton or playing that enforcer type of D game. Boychuk is actually a decent comparison for what kind of physical game he brings, though obviously he's not Boychuk's size so the hits come in differently. I think he does have a little Kronwall in him though.

Now Zboril on the other hand, that's his game.

PROVIDENCE — Charlie McAvoy participated in his first professional practice Thursday for the Providence Bruins at Dunkin’ Donuts Center. McAvoy, skating alongside Linus Arnesson, wore No. 43. The right-shot defenseman is likely to make his pro debut Saturday against Springfield, paired with veteran left-shot man Tommy Cross.

“It seemed great,†McAvoy said. “I felt like I had a good day, getting used to the equipment, learning the systems and everything. Overall, it’s just really, really exciting. It made for a good first day for me.â€

The Bruins are high on McAvoy, 19, their 2016 first-round pick. He concluded his college career at Boston University with 8 goals and 43 assists in 75 games over two seasons. McAvoy also helped Team USA win the 2017 World Junior Championship.

“I haven’t seen him play,†said Providence coach Kevin Dean. “But I’ve heard there’s some Drew Doughty in him and a little more physicality in his game, from what I understand. He looks like a thoroughbred. I heard he skates like the wind.

“We’re going to try and encourage him to do those things. Rein in the stuff that might get him in trouble, and maybe it doesnâ™t. We’ll see.â€

I love how excited he looks in all of the videos and pictures. Hopefully he is one of the "hometown" boys who embraces the challenge and becomes an instant favorite next year. Well behind Marchand, Pasta, Bergie, Rask (good rask not injured/sick Rask), angry Chara, McQuaid smushing people. No pressure.

Give the kid 18 on the pro team.

McAvoy apparently had a very emotional goodbye with David Quinn. He also wrote a very nice goodbye to his college mates and school and posted it on social media.

Priceless, Hilarious ROFLMAO:laugh::handclap:

:laugh:Also hilarious!:laugh::laugh:

I was a huge fan of 33,44, 55 being defensemen. I would love it if he wore number 22 in deference to Brad Park. Or, if nobody else has claimed 44 that would be cool. Like I said I'm a fan of d-men with low numbers but when Brad Park came here he changed that since Park wore #2 for the Rangers, came here and wore #22. At that time my adolecent mind thought "we have #4 and then we have 2+2 in Park (a secondary Orr type) and thought that it meant that here he'd be twice as good than in NY....
Carol Vadnais wore #10, Dick Redmond wore #6 (which I like on Chiller).
I guess I'm going off the rails here. Watch him wear #59 or some really lame-a$$ number like that....:amazed::sarcasm::laugh:
