Could be a good base for a hockey trade. Doubt there would be anything significant added to either side.

Not entirely sure if MTL would covet Debrusk but if they had a use for him this could probably work 1-1

I think Debrusk 25yrs, ca be a good middle six impact player for Mtl.
Chariot solves some defensive concerns for Boston for the playoffs and potentially resign with the Bruins. The 2nd pick was of the age difference.

Rumor is trading Ben Chiarot will bring a 1st-round pick to the Canadiens. Why does Montreal trade an early 2nd-rounder and Chiarot and only get back Jake Debrusk?

I could see the Habs taking a chance on Debrusk, but not for Chiarot. I think they would want to get rid of a contract they don't love for him.

Would not give up our 2nd (which is equal to a late first). Debrusk does nothing for me. I'd rather just trade Chiarot for a draft pick.
Came here to say this.

Habs 2nd will be in the 35 range, and they could apparently get a pick in the 25 range for Chiarot.
So it's equivalent to 25+35 for Debrusk, which seems insanely expensive, in asset terms.

Actually, I'm not even sure Debrusk would fetch MTL (early) 2nd Rd pick.

Chiarot, want it or not, is a valuable rental player by NHL standard.

He is so because playoff hockey is a totally different beast.
A beast defensemen like Chiarot handle properly.
