Value of: Chandler Stephenson to MTL

Habs are looking for a 2C. Just curious what the price would be.
I don't think he will cost anything. Infact, I doubt he has positive value. He is an ok C and may do better with the wingers that the Habs have but his contract is pretty bad.

But this is me talking as a fan who hated the contract to begin with. What GM's think, not sure.

That contract would need retention, It seems to much year to make it.

Therefore, I realy like the player.

Then moving a NMC player at year 1 of 7 isnt a common thing.

The OP makes it obvious he is clueless about Stephenson’s value long term, now’s the time to pounce and steal Montreals 2nd round pick

This is far too much integrity than I’m used on these boards
The Montreal Canadiens are not represented by some goon on this site. That 2nd round pick is safe.

Who knew that a 30 year old, 6.25 million was exactly what we needed in the Habs matured timeliness that starts in that players mid 30s and ends by 40.

I was pretty happy with the contract... mainly in the sense that we didn't sign it

I'd take him in Utah at the price of a 2nd. I watched him in Vegas a lot, dudes a fantastic complementary forward. We can attach another 2nd in 4 years when we need the cap and $6.25 is a much lower percentage of the cap, so he'll hopefully be easier to offload. Sorry Seattle fans are having a bad experience.

He plays almost 20mins per night. He's not in any danger of a buyout or being sent down to Coachella.

I assume he means down the line, when he’s 35 or so. Even that’s a bit silly, though, because if Seattle is in the basement he might be willing to move before then, ala Seth Jones.

But ya, probably not happening now or any time soon.

So I was looking at his stat line and thinking "he's not bad he's just a little over paid". Then I dug a bit deeper. Wow 37% xGF 5v5. That's 3rd worst in the league. What's up with this guy? Does he just not play defense?

In Vegas he was slightly worse then his team at possession, but this is just a cellar of suck.

If there is retention I could see him being an option for Winnipeg…especially if they can’t get a better centre like Nelson

He hasn't been bad at all. I think the biggest concern for most Kraken fans is the back end of the contract, when he's 35+

Can't y'all just let the team grow organically?

Anchoring ourselves with ugly contracts isn't what we should be doing. Are we desperately trying to keep a contending window open or something?

Seems like a steep price to pay for your impatience.
