But the average Joe in America doesn't care about hockey 24/7 as much as the average Joe in Canada. Not even close. If you've lived and traveled extensively in both countries, you would understand that. There's no comparison. This is like the 5th most popular sport in the U.S. unless it's once in a blue moon, like this tournament.

How does McDavid expect to be named Captain at the Olympics when he sees all the players before him lifting the trophy and he holds it, turns around and hands it off. It doesn't matter if it's not the cup and doesn't care about it, it's disrespectful to all the people there that found the tournament meaningful.

And I can totally understand the guys on the team who haven’t won a real cup to… not want to dance around with this cup. I think I’d be like this. I’d feel super great about everything else just not into the cup lifting ceremony. That’s sacred. Perhaps the nhl shouldn’t have used the cup design for this trophy. Idk. I’d pass on that until I got the real one. After I got the real one I’d happily dance around with other ones.
