Gotta give hellebuyck his due though. Binnington stopped what he needed to, but he also made many of them a whole lot more difficult than they needed to be. He was great in overtime though. Hellebuyck is so much better at being in position he makes saves look a whole lot easier than they are. Just calm and collected. He played great tonight, and I say that as a team Canada fan all the way.

It’s pretty ridiculous to sit here and proclaim what some Canadians are in regards to the USA and the state of their hockey.

The US have nothing to be ashamed of. Without Binnington standing on his head they win this.

The real winner is hockey.

Without Slavin stopping two sure goals this game never makes it to OT. Helly playing amazing all tournament or you guys don’t make the finals. If only they don’t score those goals.

You should google the definition of literal.

That aside he did not play like crap, yes he let in a few that he would probably want back but when the game was on the line he consistently showed up and played huge. Every game he gave his team a chance to win and damn near singlehandedly slowed down other teams forecheck with his puck playing ability. Fans particularly on the national level are way too critical of goaltending, when they people shooting at them are the best in the world. He did his job.

Binnington was terrible in this tournament until the US had 2 goals this game. Then he was great.

McDavid scoring that, after a (not so) pedestrian tournament, was just poetic. Crosby was having a mediocre Olympics before *that* goal. But the great ones always find a way to make it count, and tonight was 97’s moment. That was perfect.

And holy shit, Jordan Binnington went f***ing nuclear. The dude would just not let Canada lose. Absolutely incredible to get pegged as the weakest link and then turn into superman.

A hell of a night, and an amazing capper to a tournament that delivered bigtime. Can’t wait to see Guerin and Sullivan slapped in irons and flown to Guantanamo

Brady Tkachuk was a beast in this tournament and freaking pissed everybody off. He created and lead the US team.

Connor Hellebuyck reminded me of a prime Price, even if he didn’t win, he was stellar.

There is no need to talk shit about those two US guys. But I’m still figuring out where Matthews was hiding on the McDavid goal.

Did USA overtake Canada as 'The Best Hockey Nation', or 'The Best National Ice Hockey Team'?

I am not saying just because USA just beat Canada 3-1 infront of their own fans, but did USA just caugh Canada in terms of pruducing hockey talents?

Yes, USA has the population of 300+millions (almost 10 times more than Canada), but popularity of hockey in both countries are not comparable:
- In Canada random folks know something about hockey, hockey stars in general
- But in USA most of the folks don't care & know anything about hockey... if you catch random dude in NY, LA, Miami, Atlanta etc...

Sonk!! Still our game. The US defended so well all tournament then Matthews left the best player in the world alone to end it.

Seriously though this was one of the best hockey games I've ever seen, and the tournament was so much fun. USA had a great tournament.

The rematch in Milan will be awesome! I can't wait!
