Basketball is cultural. Basketball has very low barriers to entry, which is important for young kids to get into. Hockey is cost deterring, and hampers people from poor economic backgrounds to get into.

The NBA is filled with a bunch of entitled, incredibly rich players, so obviously the sense of sacrifice and effort isn't going to be comparable. You can't even compare rich hockey players to basketball (or any other major NA sport). The difference between someone worth 10M and 200M is approximately 200M.

That's probably why I love KD so much. Despite his faults, that dude LOVES to ball and would probably do it for free.

Agreed completely, that’s why I say the sports are just different places- shorthand for all that. But to your casual M 18-34 demographic or whatever- this rules.
