GWT: Champions League - League Stage

I've been saying for years Ortega is better, no idea how Pep can't see that.
Edersons elite with the ball for a goalie which is important for a Pep side, but he’s always been bad at goalkeeping. Well relative to CL level talent at least. But it’s almost never mattered his entire tenure there because City dominated everyone that he never had to make a difference in net.

Dortmund with a convincing 3-0 away at Sporting. Guirassy's opening header was already his 10th CL goal of the season.

The last goal was a devastating counter attack, Adeyemi run really fast the length of the pitch to be able to put the ball in from close range. Even if he hadn't made it, Beier would have scored anyway, being right by him.

Incredibly boring 1st half, with one post shot from distance from Sporting. In the 2nd half BVB took care of business led by Guirassy, who scored a nice header and then a perfect cross to assist the 2-0 goal by Groß. At that point all of Sporting's spirit was seemingly gone and Adeyemi added a 3rd goal after a sloppy attack from Sporting.

Happy to see that BVB could sense how vulnerable Sporting was at that point and pushed for more goals instead of being happy with going back to Dortmund with just a 1-0 or 2-0 lead. This should be over.

I don’t think it was Lewis, but I could be wrong. I think it was the guy Lewis passed it to? Everyone else was so focused on Ederson I didn’t get a good look, but that’s why the goal happened

Edit: Believe it was Kovacic who put a yolo ball to Lewis for no reason. Lewis puts a panic ball backwards and Ederson has to rush out

Think the blame is shared three ways here
Lewis didn't play a panic ball, he didn't even touch it.

He saw the play developing and figured he'd just kinda half stick a foot towards it but not at all commit.

Any defender worth his salt there knows that the most important thing you can do there is make sure the attacker doesn't get by you with the ball. You either have to get the ball, the defender, or both. At least 1 is required. Getting neither is an abject failure.

Although he did have a fun little acted out flick past Ederson like he's an 8 year old playing a video game and pretending he's the one doing it. So he's got that going for him.

Ortega has been quite bad the last few months.

Stat of the day : Adeyemi has never managed to deliver an assist from a cross in his Bundesliga career.

What's worrying for City is they actually played better than they have his season. I don't see them turning it around in the toilet bowl.

I didn't see the match and not sure what is going at Sporting, but ever since Amorim left it looks as though it's been a total shift. Current manager isn't even starting Gyokeres, though I don't know why, but he's bringing him off the bench. Other selection choices look odd based solely on the box scores. And while it's his prerogative, he changed the formation. I can't imagine it's a good look making all those changes with results no longer being consistent.
