I was very surprised they didn't blow the whistle after Ferran torres shot that ball after the corner kick. Fitting ending to a crazy game, that in my opinion, we had no business winning.

I didn’t watch the match, but if you look at the box score there were 4 goals and 2 sets of substitutions prior to the 90 minute mark, not to mention anything after it.

Player received treatment deep in extra time. I didn’t have a stop watch to time how long he was in the ground for.

Go watch the game or close your mouth. No comment on the phantom penalty earlier with video evidence I have my answer.

So yeah stick to advising other people, my question was fair. And given some honest answers in this thread it holds more value that that crappy post of yours.

I don’t need to look. I can WATCH. As always, you really should try watching Barca once in a while. Had you watched, you’d have noticed that at about 3:40 of extra time a Benfica player was fouled. The subsequent free kick was taken at 4:44 of extra time. That free kick led to a… let’s say bunch of action in Barca’s box where it looked like Benfica might have a chance, IE the ref is still letting them play with the ball in Barca’s box and Benfica looking potentially likely to score. Then at 5:00 flat, 16 seconds after the free kick was taken, a “rocket” clearance is made forward well up the pitch into open space which Raphinha latches on to and then scores. Time of the goal: 5:10. But hey, according to you the ref allowing Benfica to take a free kick in Barca’s half in the 5th minute of injury time and then let play continue in Barca’s box as it looked like Benfica might score the winner at their home ground is somehow Uefalona.

So yeah, stick to your “honest” answer since you watched the match and have no bias against Barca whatsoever. Crappy post indeed.

I watched the Lille game, but can anyone who watched the Benfica/Barca game explain why there were 4 minutes of ET and Barca's goal came at the 96th? Did something happen or it's usual Fergie time for UEFAlona?

I think UEFAlona came into play on the 2nd Barca penalty.
Yamal got brushed (if that, very very lightly touched), dove, and the ref blew the whistle. VAR, for some reason, did not interfere.

Now, to be clear, for Barca this game almost didn't matter. They were gonna be in the top-8 regardless.
But it might cost Benfica a top-24 spot.

I swear calls like this (and this is not in any way exclusive to Barcelona, don't get me wrong, I go into half CL matches expecting the refs to give dubious handball or very-light-touches-calls) made me delve much more into american football the last few years.
(though tbf, I just spent the weekend watching the Chiefs benefit from several just as dubious calls lol)

Lol you just wrote that you didn't watch the game and yet you came to the defense of a game you didn't watch. While telling me I should watch to comment (which you did).

I only watched the highlights but that's all you need to see that there is absolutely nothing weird about the time at the end. It's pretty ridiculous to latch onto that if you took even a cursory glance at the actual game, especially since it was so full of actually controversial decisions.
That said, hats off to Raphinha on that final goal, ice cold finishing on that man

Decided to watch stoppage time for kicks.

4 minutes goes on the board.

A couple seconds before 90', Benfica foul Barca and it takes until 90:58 for the referee to whistle again to allow Barca to take the free kick since the Barca player needed a minute after the foul and it took time to get the wall setup. The FK was taken at 91:03 and it was kicked over the goal so a goal kick was given at 91:05. Barca did a sub right then. The Benfica keeper put the ball back in play at 91:41.

So between 90:00 and 91:41 there was a total of about 2 seconds of live play, the entirety of which was a free kick attempt at goal that went directly out of bounds.

After that there was a foul near half that was taken at fairly normal speed by Barca and a throw in taken quickly, but play otherwise continued without stoppages until De Jong fouled his guy and picked up a yellow at 93:38. Benfica took the free kick at 94:44.

The ball bounces around in the Barca box for a while until Barca hoof it long at 94:59 and Raphina is immediately on it and he scores after a quick cut back at 95:09

So from the ball being put into play by Benfica at 94:44 it's fair to say that a *minimum* of 30 seconds should have been added and upwards of 1.5 minutes would have even been fair, but either way the goal was scored 25 seconds after that FK which is more than reasonable given what had happened in stoppage time.

Wow mate. You really need to work on your comprehension. I absolutely did not come to the defense of a match I didn't watch. What I did was "come to the defense" (or factually clarify for the rest of the World) that what you stated about injury time was patently false. Not only was it false, it was ridiculous. And I did watch that portion of extra time, hence my providing actual time stamps of key moments that occurred, something you clearly did not do. Whether that would have kept you from preposterously suggesting that the ref intentionally went past the 4 minute mark for Barca's sake is anyone's guess considering your consistent bias. As for the watching the entire match, I'll be watching it this evening and I'm guessing from what I've heard there will be some close calls from the officials that benefitted both sides, but didn't favor anyone. However, I already know that I will not see any intentional benefit to Barca with regards to the match not being stopped as again I've already watched that segment.

As the least biased Barca fan here I'm not sure what you're referring to. I wouldn't have had the ref blow the whistle at the 4 minute mark as it was Benfica who were in the process of recovering from a foul and taking a free kick in our half at that exact moment. That would have potentially prevented Benfica from having a great chance to win the match. Furthermore, I wouldn't have blown it just after considering the action taking place in our box, which as I've already noted took play to almost exactly the 5:00 mark of extra time. And to be clear, I also absolutely would not have blown it during the Barca counter attack either, which lasted all of 10 seconds, where the ball was cleared way up field and Raphinha was clearly running free to the ball.
