As for tonight I just the hope the best team wins. No ref crap. I also hope the pen not called in the first game isn't the difference.
Either PSG goes through or Arsenal wins by 2 or more on aggregate.

Dembele is not healed and on the bench. Huge break for the gunners.

Yes. I believe the winner will likely be someone winning a treble.
Of course if Dembele doesn't win it, I feel like Salah's incredible PL year is back in the fold.

First and foremost, a lot of time until it's awarded. That said, obviously this season will play a part. Barca potentially winning the Double and making it to the CL Semis will factor in if you ask me. Raphinha's also got the numbers including equaling Ronaldo's CL goal contributions record. I just don't see any Barca players who might have been in contention suddenly falling off after yesterday, especially someone who again scored.

Maybe it’s just me, but I would have a problem with Raphinha winning BDO. He’s not even the best player on his own team.

Yeah to me Raphinha has been out of form for a while even though he continues to contribute.
His goal yesterday isn't hiding his poor performance. At least to me.
I can't see any Barca or PSG or Inter or Arsenal player beating Salah if they don't win the CL.

It is just you.

-Arguably the best player based on performance which is what the award should be about.
-Essentially assumed the role of captain during key moments.
-16 goals and 9 assists in 28 league starts
-13 goals and 8 assists in 14 CL starts, equaling the record for goal contributions.
-1 goal and 4 assists in 5 Copa matches.
-30 goals and 21 assists all season which doesn't even include the Supercopa which is now a competitive competition. Also, he's a winger.
-Delivered in multiple big matches.
-Hat-trick in CL against Bayern.
-Goal and assist in first Clasico.
-3 goals and an assist in tie against Benfica.
-1 goal and an assist in tie against Dortmund.
-1 goal and an assist in tie against Inter.
-2 assists in Copa Semi against Atleti.
-2 goals and an assist in Supercopa Clasico final.
-Arguably most times Man of the Match for Barca, as many as 16 times.

This is up there with Salah and Dembele.

I think "out of form" is either the wrong way to put or simply hyperbolic.

I don't think he was poor yesterday. I just don't think he saw a lot of the ball. His goal yesterday was huge regardless and it should have been enough for us to win it.

I can't see anyone from Inter even in the conversation. IMO winning the CL is irrelevant when it comes to Raphinha or Dembele. Both are just as deserving as Salah.

Who is Barcelona’s best player?

I don't know for sure. Tough to say and it depends on how you look at it. IMO based on performances it's Raphinha for this season. Pedri arguably more consistent and arguably more important, but not necessarily better this season. Lamine on talent, though he's having a great season as well.

If you had to protect one Barcelona player from an hypothetical expansion draft, are you protecting Raphinha?

Or better - if you had to pick one of those three to have been out this season, which combination of 2 players if giving you the best results

Not sure how this is relevant to the discussion.

Expansion draft? Pedri or Lamine. Probably the latter, but I'd hate to choose.

Again, not sure the relevance. Also, again, tough considering the team this season and the multiple contributions.

I’m trying to say Raphinha isn’t Barca’s best or most important player. Doesn’t me he’s bad, but this is like the Jorginho argument a couple years ago. I don’t think the BDO should go to someone who isn’t the best or most important player on their team.

of course he’s been awesome this year but to me it’s just as binary as I stated above; and all three deserve consideration; but also in that respect they split the vote a bit too. The other thing with Raphinha is the Brazil form which isn’t exactly a credit to him.

That's debatable and all you're doing is inviting room for more Barca players to be part of the argument. Raphinha alone the is an entirely valid candidate right now.

Whether they split or not doesn't make Raphinha any less deserving a candidate. In fact, I would argue it makes him probably more deserving. As for his form with Brazil, don't think that factors in much considering the sample size and match types (assuming there are some friendlies in there).
