Champions League Knockout Stage

Only got to watch the highlights because of work, but I'm not sure how you can so confidently say that PSG deserved more. Arsenal's best chances (Martinelli and Trossard) were higher quality than PSG's goal, and so was the Doue chance for that matter. Fantastic finish by Dembele for the goal, but hypothetically if he hadn't scored and PSG rather scored from the Doue chance, then you aren't taking that Dembele chance and saying "wow they should have been 2-0 up."

Opta xG was Arsenal 1.65 - 1.14 PSG
Yeah the goal is a low xG but well taken after 27 passes.
As for the single two Arsenal chances, Barcola's chance was just as good, same with Ramos.
And then of course the Doue shot and the obvious pen.
Yes 1-0 is a fine score for Arsenal.
Of course, we can also imagine PSG scores on none of their chance and Arsenal scores on both. That shit happens (see Villa and the two deflected shots). But overall, PSG was more dangerous. And again, should have been a penalty. And if the penalty is scored it's 2-0 inside the first 15 minutes.

CBS Sports extended highlights. Maybe they didn't show something or I'm not remembering now, but to me Arsenal had 2 of the 3 best chances in the game (Martinelli and Trossard chances vs Doue chance), which all required great saves from the GKs. I'm not saying we definitely deserved a result more than PSG deserved 1-0, but the game ultimately came down to a fantastic finish from Dembele and some excellent saves from Donarumma (2) and Raya (1).

I looked at the xG map again to see if I missed something and it's actually kinda flawed, because it's counting some of the missed chances that were actually offside (Saka cross to Martinelli, Barcola chance). So xG should be around Arsenal 0.85 - 0.82 PSG. Wasn't clear to me if the Ramos chance where he toe poked it off the crossbar was onside or offside.

Anyways, we're gunna need a big performance in Paris next week.
Yeah that's a mistake.
Barcola had just as good a chance and Ramos hit the bar alone on goal.

I looked at the Barcola chance because I can't see how he was offside (since he started the play from midfield).
So it's his pass to Ramos that some people claim to be offside (in the buildup of the play).
The image still is tough, but I think Saliba or Timber (not sure whom) covers for Ramos. In any case, there's zero proof there was offside.

Lamine, Fati, Inigo and Fermin were late for training yesterday. So far whenever a player was late for training he was on the bench to start the next game, really curious to see if Flick (who gave all of them a sermon) keeps to his routine and benches two of his starters against Inter tonight.

No Barcola was not offside. Not even close in fact. Ramos might have been (still unsure).
As for the last second tackle on Merino it's true, the same way Saliba made a last second tackle in the second half.
Barcola wasn’t, true. But the player who played him in was. So the Barcola chance would have been

Assuming the grass is completely straight and perpendicular to the field (it isn't always 100%, but it's usually pretty good and we have nothing else to go on), this is what you end up with:

You can't say for sure given the inexactness of the lines on the grass, pixelation, potentially slight fisheye effect on the camera, and the fact that his leading foot is raised, etc, but if anything it looks more on than off.

Thank you - the still I'd seen only showed Saliba (and Evilo's tweet shows the whole thing having now clicked on it, but was chopped off weirdly). Definitely would have been close and would have been interesting to see the official lines drawn

Thuram recovered in time so he starts next to Araujo. Inter only missing Pavard, but he's an important cog in their system, as Bisseck isn't very adept at helping out the offense, although he's a beast defensively.
