This is how ALL disputes should be settled...so long as there is this version of Tina in chainmail cheering on the combatants!
For a long time people have been trying to make Chabot good. JM called him out this year. Green will probably do the same. Only thing left is to hope we get a RD that he can play with. Like for 8m$ a year dude should be able to carry a defence pair... Chych, Chych, Chych..what do we do with him? Chych and Chabot are the same it has been said. If we can get Chych at 6 or 6.5....do it, move Chabot and get Chych the RD to play with. If he wants more...move them both rebuild the second and third pairs. It's not about who is the better player, it's about making the team better.Chabot is better but he's also a fair bit more expensive in both cap hit and salary going forward.
I don't think he'll be traded but if he were to be dealt his 9.5M average salary over the next 4 years would probably play a big role.
They were playing him in Norris' spot on the powerplay. Norris was hurt, but maybe it was to see how he did in that spot also. People are probably not going to be thrilled with the return we get for either/both of them, but I think it would address needs, even if it's not evident at the time.Im gonna be in the minority here and go with Chychs.
Chabot's health is concerning. Chychrun as well to a degree but he just played an 82 game season. I know he had a bad season, but it could very likely just be a one off year. The fact that Chychrun is more movable than Chabot is also telling. Obviously there is contracts too consider in that front but I just think Chchyrun is the more coveted player around the league and Sens fans are doing the "We didn't want him anyways" approach to this situation.
FTFY.DJ ruined Chabot for so long that I'm not sure how long it'll take to recover. Chych isn't as good but can get back to his level sooner.
If JC is willing to sign in the 6ish range, I'd rather keep him. Overload the left side this year, get a righty that can suit Chabot to build his value up again, and trade him next year when teams have a bit more cap flexibility.
Assuming Korpi is still our #1G, we should just give up now and prep for 2025-26.
