I'm sure the Flames would consider moving Weegar if he asked for a trade. I doubt, when he signed with the Flames, he was expecting to be in the middle of a full scale rebuild. They won't move Weegar. He's signed long-term and they need at least a few big contracts to meet the cap floor.
Andersson will be the one to go.
If the compensation is solid and they’re getting at least as much salary back I’m sure they’d consider it.I'm sure the Flames would consider moving Weegar if he asked for a trade. I doubt, when he signed with the Flames, he was expecting to be in the middle of a full scale rebuild.
And even if he doesn't ask, if the Flames get an offer they like, I'm sure they would approach Weegar to see if he was amenable to a trade.
Most competitive teams, and that type of team is likely the only team that Weegar would consider moving to, will likely need to shed a contract or two in order to fit Weegar under the cap. I doubt staying above the cap floor will be sn issue with any Weegar trade. If the compensation is solid and they’re getting at least as much salary back I’m sure they’d consider it.
The Flames need enough salary to stay at the cap floor. And it’s not as easy as it sounds when a lot of players won’t consider playing for a non-contender in a smaller Canadian market. They can take on the odd bad contract (and get even more compensation) but a lot of those bad contracts have NTC clauses attached.
Considering Weegar will essentially be in charge of mentoring all our your high potential defensemen I have a very tough time seeing him being moved unless he asks out.I'm sure the Flames would consider moving Weegar if he asked for a trade. For the right price I would do it but I can't say the same for many of my fellow Flames fans.
Also wouldn't this be a tough trade to swallow for more than a few of your fellow Oiler fans? A number of them have been quite derogatory towards Rasmus. Isn't the name Ratmus a fan favorite in Oilerland?
The same way flames fans loathed Lucic until he became a flame? For the right price I would do it but I can't say the same for many of my fellow Flames fans.

Had really hoped to see him back in Edmonton on a PTO to find out whether Knoblauch could squeeze one more useful year out of him yet, but Calgary is a good situation for him.
I don't think anybody loathed Lucic. Loathing is more of an Oilers fan thing. We just thought he was over paid for what he brought to the game. However we accepted that having Lucic on the roster was a win over Neal there. Neal was disliked personally and professionally. The same way flames fans loathed Lucic until he became a flame?
He was awful for the Preds last year.
All I can think is, could he get 38 pts in 55 games and could we flip him at the deadline?
just fyi, Lipinski is an unsigned draft pick, not a FA
