Good fit, but pricier than he should be. If he can stay in the top 6 for the duration of his contract it will be a good signing.

Term is fine, but that's too much money for Troy Brouwer. Calgary better get their powerplay together, or else he's not scoring much at all.

as a flames fan, i think this is the worst move that treliving has made to date

I like the term, I would have said a 14M deal would have been very good.
16M would have been fair.
18M is a bit high (better for Troy than Calgary) but easily managable.

Calgary needed to add 3 things
-a winger that can score 20+ goals
-a RHS natural RW
-players that are tougher to play against

I think Brouwer brings all 3 of these to the team and as mentioned by others he's a good leader and adds that to a very young forward core.

Mason Raymond?
Jonas Hiller?

IMHO this is the type of contract I figured he'd get and I hate it's with Calgary. They have the right type of forwards in the lineup already to utilize his talents most. Sucks. IMHO this is a type of move that'll be more impactful than a 7mil Lucic with Mcdavid would be
