Why would the Flames do this? Taking an expensive contract of on often injured player and giving up a pick and lower cap hit player. Doesn’t make sense to bring in a vet to block our own young guys. Conroy is still trying to develop the youth.

Not sure often injured is a good characterization of Leddy. But I will say I would be worried about the current injury if acquiring. I’d imagine any trade would be preceded by a physical though. May take him a few games to get up to speed. But given Calgarys current d core, what young d men are they trying to develop aside from Bahl?

This thread starter has different views of what Flames should be doing from most other fans. Leddy is the complete opposite of what we should be doing. And no way Flames should be giving up assets for him. I’m on board taking him as a cap dump with an asset attached. But he definitely doesn’t fit Conroys plan of building a core around young players. We have young guys on the Wranglers that need a look in the NHL if we want to know what they are and if they are part of the future. Solovyov, Kuznetsov, Grushnikov and Poirier are all guys who have earned a look. Also Brew is not from behind. Leddy is a cap dump at best and most Flames fans would hate trading for him. Conny would never make a deal like this proposal. He’d take a pick with Leddy to weoponize cap space. But sending a pick for him is not happening

What are you talking about lol I was on team rebuild/retool and only want Leddy or a similar vet for extremely cheap as a stop-gap to help with our playoff push. But I understand St Louis isn’t gonna just give him away for free, I just thought the injury concerns may make this possivle.

Thinking Grushnikov or Poirier are ready for a look is a laughable take, and you don’t speak for all Flames fans when you make these statements lol most actual fans are on board for acquiring a cheap vet option for a playoff push
