Proposal: Cgy Prospect Swap for Centre

So, I don't think this is the avenue the Flames want to go; prospect swapping... it's also generally not something that happens too often for guys who've never played a game in the NHL.

I think Calgary would be more interested in the prospects + picks for 22-25 year old centres who can play today and might have some upside. The issue is these deals rarely come along, and their costs are normally pretty high.

Calgary has 6 first rounders between the 2024 and 2026 NHL draft. That's a bunch of capital. They also have a prospect pool that is now starting to take shape into being one of the better ones in the NHL, however, very little talent that is under 24 at the NHL level (it's 4 players for anyone wondering).

I've been saying it all year, the Flames need to put themselves front and centre on any of the 'why'd this guy get traded?' type moves that happen every year in the NHL. They missed out on Kakko, which was dumb, but they really can't be in a position to miss out on anyone else. There's not enough guys at the NHL level that you look at and say 'no this guy needs to be in the lineup every night'.

Leafs really are short on C prospects as well. It's my opinion that the only way that they'd move Minten, is for a player who could shore up our current 3C position.

I prefer to take our chances with Mailloux and BK and just draft more RD's in the coming draft.

Do you think Mews is worth Kapanen? I don't. I value the guy who has a few NHL games and is already playing against men in the SHL. He's a pt/game player in the SHL and that's not easy to do. It's a tight checking league.

No I wouldn't trade Kapanen for Mews. But I watched couple of Wolves games, he's got decent chance.

I would not trade one of our centers for him though. If he was a little older and closer to NHL ready, I might.

I would just stick with Mailloux and BK and draft more RD's in this next draft.
 
They’ll add some C depth over the next two drafts. It’s too early to mix & match prospects. Let the kids develop and then look for moves to even things out, because if someone’s trading a recently drafted C for another prospect, they’ve more than likely identified a really big problem with the kid OR it’s a monster move, and in that case it’s Parekh leaving.

It’s one thing if your Detroit or Anaheim who have all those young, high quality Dmen to trade and some are already playing big NHL minutes. The Flames D prospects are still in the “looks maybe like it’s gonna work, but we just don’t know yet” type thing.

In two years I’m gonna wager they’ll have two legit Top 6 C prospects, and they’ll still have their D prospects.

Who said Beck and Kapanen for Parekh?

All I saw was someone saying he would be interested in him? So the laughable narrative is basically on you for purposely comprehending it that way before actually reading. Some of you Habs haters need to chill because you are making yourself look worse than what you are pointing fingers at. You have this seed planted in your head and it's not accurate.

Literally on this page there are two separate offers of Beck for Parekh and Kapanen for Parekh proposed by habs fans, one of which you quoted yourself

I think your mistaken because you have belittle focus in your head. I was replying to the Mews post at first. The 2nd one was Parekh and I said didn't the Flames just draft him? This is the problem with some of you. One Habs fan bud. One! And you think we all are on the same page. That's complete BS and the lack of comprehension is on you.

Most Habs fans know the value with Beck and Kapanen and no, most of us won't propose it for Parekh. Beck and Kapanen are very solid B+ types who are close to NHL ready. Parekh was just drafted in the top 10 and there zero context of his value dropping. I'm not even going to propose anything for Parekh.

Buddy I don’t know why you’re getting so angry. You said that no one suggested Kapanen or Beck for Parekh and I’m just letting you know that two people did and it’s literally on the same page that you’re arguing it didn’t happen

I'm a little sensitive with other fans throwing the Habs fan base under the bus. This is getting just as annoying as you and others thinking we overrate our own.

I can assure you that 90% or more of Habs fans would not propose Kapanen or Beck for Parekh. That doesn't mean we don't like our B+ guys who are close to NHL ready. It just means we know it's not worth someone recently drafted in the top 10

Oh, and I did find that post. There were two 1sts in that one Habs fans proposal so it was clearly taken out of context.

I am not a Habs hater but there is literally a Beck for Parekh suggestion on this page and a Kapanen + a late 1st for Parekh on the 1st page that would be 'foolish' for the Flames to turn down.

Yeah sorry for the lowball offers. We don't make good trade partners. We lack good top 6 center prospect outside of Hage who we should keep.
