I thought it was an ominous sign when in the 1st or 2nd game of the year Farabee had a wide open net from 1-2 feet away and somehow managed to shoot the puck in the opposite direction. Idk if it’s an injury or what but he used to be a solid top 6 player and fell off a cliff
Has he ever recovered form the back surgery?

it’s hard to say how much that has impacted his game. Last season he started out great; with some quick math in the first 49 games he had 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points; the last 33 games he had 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points. So the last 81 games he’s played he’s scored 30 points. I think next season will be a clear indicator for what type of player he is now. It’s possible the Flyers think he is broken, and the weak return for him may mean lots of other GM’s see it that way as well. We shall find out

Yeah, because the 1st half of last year he was like 2nd or 3rd in the *league* in 5v5 points. He wasn't just on his way to being a good player, he was playing like a great player. And then the break happened and it all just stopped. Completely. I don't have the numbers here but he was on a similar pace 2nd half of last year, while near PPG the 1st half. Just fell off a cliff.

I think the Flyers held firm to see which half of Farabee would show up this year, and the 2nd half on showed up, and so they wanted to get out from him.

He could still suddenly spike back again; but I don't blame them on this deal.

It's certainly bizarre the way Farabee has just fallen off. Whether it's an injury thing, a confidence thing, or idk what else...it certainly seems like something broke there.

I still think he's a strong rebound candidate. But the longer his struggles continue, the more you have to wonder. And that contract is big enough that it's still a steal if he's playing well, but it's a burden if he's not.

Doesnt look like an NHL player to me.

Pretty awful trade by Briere that is currently being overshadowed by Michkov going on a heater.

It isn't like the guys he gave up have been ripping it up. Frost looks ok but mainly on potential. Farabee has done nothing, looks like he will never do nothing either.

I guess you could argue he could have got a better return for those guys but based on their play for Calgary I can't imagine Philly is missing them either.

I'm giving it more time. Frost has looked OK. He's pretty clearly our 3rd best Center. Not that there's a lot of competition for that slot behind Kadri and Backlund. Farabee though? Man he doesn't look good. He might be our worst winger. Hope he finds his game. Lomberg looks better than him and actually provides some intangibles.

I thought Faravee was a better player than he is. Not winning battles, below average defensively and plays dying on his stick. He literally reminds me of Calgary James Neal.

That’s too bad about Pelletier. Not super surprised but I think he is just too small to fill the role he has the skill set for

Now after 20 games for both Frost and Farabee, they have a grand total of 4 points between them.....methinks the Flames were expecting a bit more from this duo......I think Frost will be okay eventually....Farabee though is just not the same player since his surgery....

Frost is fine, he just is what he is. He is a soon to be 26 year old dime a dozen 45 point guy who maybe tops out at 50 on his best year.
Farabee is broken on a bad deal.

Given how this trade is unfolding, there are about 30 pages of some wildly bad takes.

To be fair wild takes is one of the grand pillars of HFboards

I honestly thought both of these guys would be 60 point guys for us.....perhaps they will eventually but I guess we may have over estimated how good both were? At least the trade so far isn't looking nearly as bad for us....though surely we could have gotten more from another team then what we got from Calgary.

I dont really think so honestly.
Farabee is on a bad deal until/unless he proves otherwise. He is the upside player in the deal if he can ever get back to his prior form, but until he actually does it he is a bad player on a bas contract. I look at Farabee for Kuzmenko as that segment of the trade. Kuzmenko is older, but if he meshes with Michkov then cool if not he disappears in a few months and the Flyers got out of Farabee's contract. Flyers getting out of 3 years of Farabee's contract is no small thing as they are prepping to go shopping in the UFA market.

Frost was traded for a 2nd + Pelts. That seems reasonable. Every team has a Morgan Frost. Some have multiples. You can find players like him for free every July 1.

A lot of the HF Flyers uproar is our fanbase always championed Frost as the next G, and Frost was typically included early in the discussions comparing him with peers Thomas and Kyrou. He never got close to their level.
Farabee potted 20 goals in 55 games as a 20 year old and looked like he had this bright future. He never got more productive tho.
