Like the trade from both sides. But it was funny that Frost has more goals with the Flames (one) than the Flyers scored in the past three games.

All I want to say is that :

1) Briere saying they made this deal to free up some cap/flexibility when seeking the C they desire
2) such players, as mentioned here, being available each offseason on ''open market''

..it all seems to make sense when you look at it without context/purely rationally, but... This franchise has been stuck in mediocrity for a decade. It's normal to be extremely sceptical Flyers can do any of the two above (manage to fetch a good C // pick such players up elsewhere) until it actually happens. Thus far it really hasn't been the case. Instead, we have Deslauriers w a NTC and Luchanko as the best (and only) C prospect thus far.

Philly fans, this might interest you, on After Hours last night, Scott Oake and Ryan Leslie interviewed Dustin Wolf, and when asked about the trade his exact words describing Pelletier was "Pelts is the face of the room in there", which I find to be extremely high praise, especially since Wolf has played with Pelts his entire pro career at both the AHL and NHL level.

Wolf pelts...

Frost and Flames...

Now I see why this trade happened.

So far so good with Frost and Farabee. It is hard to get a real good read on them with no practice time and playing three games in four nights.

But they seem happy to be here. Frost had a million dollar smile on display after scoring and generally throughout the night. He has been an immediate upgrade at the position for the Flames and I see a higher ceiling once he meshes with his line mates.

Farabee struggled a bit. He's been tagged with first line duty and Huberdeau and Kadri can be very lax defensively. Talented though and Farabee will have to find his way with them.

Next up for the Flames is another very tough game in the Leafs. We will see how they play with some rest.

My thoughts exactly. These past few months I had high hopes that the Flames would finish low enough to draft a game breaker or two over the next couple of years. Now I know we never will. We had our chance with Tkachuk and we all know how that turned out. Can we get lucky and find a diamond in the rough outside of the top of the first round? We did once with Gaudreau. Can lightening strike twice in the same spot? I wouldn't bet the house on it.

That's kind of a silly take considering the best player on the roster is a 23 year old taken in the 7th round.

The whole they can be replaced for free in July seems wishful thinking to me. Any RFA worth getting isn't available and any decent UFA is going to get PAID.
