Kinda think this is getting overrated for Calgary. What kind of contract do they even give Frost? He feels more like a temporary player to keep churning than a guy part of a long term solution. Farabee is signed longer and could really go either way.

Frost was practically glowing in his pre-game interview, he seems extremely excited to be here. Farabee was more even keel in his but both mentioned fresh start multiple times and mentioned they'd gotten texts from basically everyone on the team before they got to Calgary

Frost and Farabee were the biggest winners in this trade, feels good for them. And just you wait til the next Mom game...........

Well after the first game with Frost I can already tell he is one of those players that will look like something else is there but won’t ever quite get there. He had a good game though

17 minutes of ice time fresh off the plane on a new team is more than an adequate sample size. I agree

Frost and Farabee are fine middle 6 players and they will contribute in Calgary.
Just people overreacted treating this like a coupe and going on about how the Flyers got hosed because, in their mind, it is still 2019 not 2025.

Start looking at things thru the lens of "these players can be found for free every July 1" and it is a whatever trade. They got a 2nd and a change of scenery player you can find for free every summer for 2 change of scenery players. Seems reasonable.

I think it’ll prove good value for Calgary yet at the same time, ultimately, I’m not sure how much it moves the needle. They’ve got a pretty deep line-up of quality players but if anything, this will just cement them into that 7-10 in the West no-man’s land for the foreseeable future.

They’ve done a very good job of accruing younger talented depth and prospects after the Tkachuk trade but much like Nashville, it’s hard to see where that supernova transcendent talent to build the Cup hopes around is coming from at this point. They are way too solid to be in position to draft that guy and despite the depth, I don’t think it exists in their system. If anything, that guy is probably Wolf, but we know how it goes with goalies.

Not being critical here - they were in a rough spot and I think overall the talent collection and getting younger and deeper initiative has been about as good as you can hope. But with the current group it really feels like their best chance to be a true contender is to have one of those weird unsustainable PDO bender years combined with Wolf being out of his mind.

I think most flames fans, myself included, expected a bottom 10 team after all the moves they did last year. Then they got off to a hot start this year and with Wolf seeming like the real deal it became apparent that they’re not going to be able to bottom out

Kind of unfortunate as they desperately need some top end talent but given the circumstances I’m fine with Conroy trying to make the team better as long as it’s for guys like like Farabee and Frost who are sub 25 and will be around awhile

They’ll have to get lucky later in the draft or find that top end talent through trade or free agency if they ever want to truly contend but given the circumstances I’m pretty excited about this deal

Moving guys like Andersson or Weegar or Kadri just to try and make the team worse When you’d still have Wolf preventing you from bottoming out and picking top 5 would be kind of pointless tbh. Would only send a message to guys like Wolf/Zary/Coronato that if you exceed expectations we’re going to bust your knee caps because we want to suck, and that would do more harm than good imo

As long as they aren’t out there selling futures for UFAs and older guys I think most flames fans would encourage these kinds of deals

At the end of the day, Conroy gave up almost nothing for a couple of mediocre players.

Obviously, the Flyers could hit a jackpot with the pick and Farabee//Frost could blossom into star player. I give both 1% chance.

Flames have become quite a deep team in all positions since Cornroy has taken over. They just lack elite talent, they just need a Bedard and they're set.

The Flames best player is Wolf. He's a Jonathan Quick in the making.

My thoughts exactly. These past few months I had high hopes that the Flames would finish low enough to draft a game breaker or two over the next couple of years. Now I know we never will. We had our chance with Tkachuk and we all know how that turned out. Can we get lucky and find a diamond in the rough outside of the top of the first round? We did once with Gaudreau. Can lightening strike twice in the same spot? I wouldn't bet the house on it.

Fair trade for both sides, this helps the Flyers tank (and get another 2nd round pick - 4 now in the second round) and Frost & Farabee give some depth to the Flames and have potential to be really good players (although I think Frost is one of those tweener type of players for 2nd/3rd line center but he's not defensively aware enough).

Flame away!
