Confirmed Trade: [CGY/PHI] Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, 2025 2nd, 2028 7th

With 7 picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds in the up coming draft, Danny has a lot of ammo to move around. He clearly can land a true #1C, by trade or at the top of the draft. Frost is way to inconsistent and he needs a change. Shame but he just disappears in way to many games with that talent and Joel since his neck surgery has been in and out of the dog house. He has not performed up to his contract. I wanted the Flyers to draft him and wish him the best, but it was time

The Flyers were just shut out for two games in a row, Briere saw what was on the ice and realised that Farabee and Frost were going nowhere in a hurry. The Flyers are a star-free team with the exception of a 19 year old Russian winger and Travis Konecny. Briere was not going to trade those two players, so he traded the two who were frequent occupants of Tort's doghouse. The Flyers organisation sees this team for what they are, and that is not a contender to win the Stanley Cup. Briere traded two players for a former teammate of Michkov, and promising 23 year old left winger, two drafts picks, and a RHD prospect.
I like this deal for the Flyers.
Who is the “RHD” prospect?

I just assume ANYTHING the Flyers do will be a disaster.

This trade is just more of the same. Flyers got fleeced, but what's new since Ron Hextall left?
It’s kind of wild because I thought it couldn’t get worse than Hex and Hakstol, but Danny/Fletch somehow managed. They saw an opportunity to cement themselves, and boy did they ever

Pelletier gets a lot of little things right. Not only that, but since he was playing so good and making things happen on the ice he was moved to the 1st line with Huberdeau and Kadri for a good stretch of games before being pulled today.

Get him mentored by Konecny. I see a lot of similarities in their style of play if Pelletier can get there. It ultimately depends on if he can reach that potential after some hard seasons with terrible injuries. I wish nothing but the best for him in Philly.

With Torts at the helm, every single player of ours except maybe Risto has gotten worse. He doesn’t develop well. Foerster, York, Farabee, Frost, Tippet and to some degree, even Michkov have looked worse this year than most people expected

Well, I get that. An elite center will do wonders for them obviously, you need to get Michkov going and get him paired with someone who isn't a stiff. TK hasn't played with anyone great at center that I can think of as a Devils fan since he got there.
Be real. Briere isn't going to get a better center for the Flyers than Giroux and Couturier were in Konecny's first five seasons.

Maybe I was mistaken about the RHD Hunter Brzustewicz, but I saw that he was included. Must have been misinformation. My mistake.
Yeah, there were some false reports early on that it was Bru and 1st, instead of 2nd and 7th. Chris Johnston tweeted something like that I think.

This trade just seems weird for the Flyers and good for the Flames.

Farabee is only 24 and has shown enough to be a 40-50 point winger at minimum, but having a bad year. Frost has been playing a top 6 C role and clearly has talent.

Pelltier looks useful but isn't quite there yet, Kuzmenko will either be a genius move or be gone.

It isn't completely horrible value for the Flyers based on right now but it is selling low.
Torts has had issues with Frost and Farabee since he became coach, even though they were the 3rd and 4th highest scorers on the team.

They are now the fourth and fifth players to be moved out by Briere because they fell out with the coach, although in Provorov's case he fell out with Philly in general.

Provorov
Hayes
Angelo
Frost
Farabee

They also tried to trade Sanheim for Krug in summer 2023 after Torts healthy scratched Sanheim for a game in front of his family & friends in Calgary. If Krug had waived his NMC, the Flyers would have him on LTIR now as well as Ryan Ellis.

At face value this feels like a big loss for the Flyers. Absolutely could see both Farabee and Frost improving after leaving Philly, I hope they do, but it likely wasn't going to happen with the Flyers.

Ultimately for the Flyers this will come down to what the Flyers do with that $7M in cap space in the offseason. Do I trust them to make good use of it? No.... No I do not.

Ya, that's fair. I always forget TK got there in 2015, always felt on a younger timeline than the two guys you mentioned.

My own 2 cents....worthless now I know

Based on this boards perceived value, Calgary took the flyers to the Cleaners.

I'm wondering what else is going on here.

Feel like a lot of people are too eager to jump on Philly’s grave here.

I do think on its face it’s a Flames win, but not by an absurd amount. And Philly picks up a decent pick for their trouble.

It’s an exchange of a bunch of youngish players with pedigree who haven’t really hit their stride consistently yet. Ultimately it will come down to whether Kuzmenko can rediscover his scoring touch, if Farabee bounces back from a down year, if Pelletier figures it out, etc.

Calgary gets the best player in Frost but Philly moves out the riskiest contract and gets a pick. Not a massive loss.

I guess Briere figured that keeping Tortorella is worth trading quarters for dimes. Still baffled by this trade for the Flyers after much baffleness last night.

Not that Frost and Farabee are world beaters but middle 6 forwards with potential for more for a guy that will probably be in the KHL before long and a small forward that was on waivers not too long ago. A 2nd rounder is in there but still... Yep, baffled

Farable and Frost don't even play the same sport as Richards and Carter. From what I remember, at the time there were off-ice and locker room issues with Richards and Carter.

For Farrabee and Frost it is their inability to translate their skill ro consistent productivity.
Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost feel like the discount store version of Mike Richards and Jeff Carter.

Go be great boys.
