Confirmed Trade: [CGY/PHI] Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, 2025 2nd, 2028 7th

Slept on it.

Organization is still Dogshit and they deserve everything that comes to them for catering to the lord emperor Torts.

Meh, I think they're shuffling to set up for a massive offseason move. Torts not liking Farabee is whatever but if they can use his cap savings to get an elite center that shakes free elsewhere then it's worth it imo

This team needs a hell of a lot more than an elite center.

Well, I get that. An elite center will do wonders for them obviously, you need to get Michkov going and get him paired with someone who isn't a stiff. TK hasn't played with anyone great at center that I can think of as a Devils fan since he got there. 1C/goalie move is what Briere is probably looking at in the summer. Now can he pull it off? Who knows. He's competing with 31 other GM's but Joel Farabee wasn't going to make them any better than the two things I've mentioned

The winner of this trade is Morgan Frost.

Calgary wins this trade by a mile imo.

Kuzmenko is horrible this year and makes a ton
Pelletier could be decent but not great. Hasn’t done much in the NHL. Great AHL

No it won’t. The coach doesn’t let Michkov make mistakes. And that’s not changing.

They need 4 centers, they need new coaching, they need a new PP, they need at least 3 defenders. They trot Seeler out there regularly and they’re going to make a statue out of him before we know it.

No, he can’t pull anything positive off because he’s too worried about being friends with the other GM’s.

He’s garbage. The flyers are garbage. The state of the team is garbage.

Laughton should have been traded 5 times over if this organization didn’t value dog shit.

Can’t wait to watch Frost and Farabee show they aren’t terrible hockey players and they’ve just been drug down by a dinosaur coach who doesn’t know anything but playing heavy.

I understand the self loathing as a Flyers fan since I'm a NY Jets fan but I'm just trying to make sense of the trade. In reality, Briere can be a dumbass and it doesn't mean anything but I still wanna see what he does first before shitting on him totally.

I’m a Carolina Panthers fan, so I know all about dogshit organizations.

There is no smart way to spin it. They catered to Torts and what he wanted. They tried to trade Sanheim last off season and only got blocked cause Krug said no. Wouldn’t be surprised if they double down and try moving him again.

Classless move by Brière to remove Frost mid-game.

Last time that shit was pulled was the Cammalleri trade, no?

Pierre Gauthier got a lot of flak for it at the time.

This 100%. Is Farabee never going to be the same player post neck injury. Or will getting away from Farterella turn Farabee back into a 50 point player.
we are going to find out soon...have to wonder where Farabee plays with the flames. my hunch is Farabee will flourish away from Torts. This deal seems to make a tonne of sense from the flames perspective and senseless from a flyers... perhaps its to make michkovs transition easier...

None of these players are going to be impact/game changing players for their respective teams. A couple of years from now this trade won't even be remembered.... except for Rory Kerins who will now find it more difficult, undeservedly so (4 pts in 5 games), to get a recall back to the Flames who continue to struggle to find offense in the majority of their games. Neither Farabee or Frost is the answer to that particular Flames problem.
In the long run I predict this trade will be just another nothing burger.

So who was a similar player to Farabee who’s got traded? I’m curious for a comparable trade; ~25 year old winger with term, career high ~50 points, having down year?

Underwhelmed at the return for Frost and Farabee, but if I'm being realistic it's probably fair value.

Seems like flyers just wanted to change up the mix and get out from Farabee's contract.

This sets up for a real run at Pettersson. Shit ton of picks in 1st and 2nd now.

Kuzmenko-EP-Michkov?

The Flyers were just shut out for two games in a row, Briere saw what was on the ice and realised that Farabee and Frost were going nowhere in a hurry. The Flyers are a star-free team with the exception of a 19 year old Russian winger and Travis Konecny. Briere was not going to trade those two players, so he traded the two who were frequent occupants of Tort's doghouse. The Flyers organisation sees this team for what they are, and that is not a contender to win the Stanley Cup. Briere traded two players for a former teammate of Michkov, and promising 23 year old left winger, two drafts picks, and a RHD prospect.
I like this deal for the Flyers.

Dumping farabees remaining 3yr/5m contract is the main reason the Flyers made this deal. The price is frost. A much better deal for the flyers than they're given credit for.

Frost didn’t have any value to this team, as demonstrated numerous times because dumping contracts mid-season doesn’t cost active NHL players off your roster.

Am I missing something? Who's the RHD prospect that Calgary traded to Philly?
