Confirmed Trade: [CGY/PHI] Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, 2025 2nd, 2028 7th

Lol at that 7th included. As a Flyers fan this should help them suck even more. Farabee is having a disastrous year but he’s been a firm top 6 player for a few seasons. Frost may have some juice left. His tenure with the Flyers was tumultuous. He was often jerked around but he also never took that next step and he probably never would have in Philly. Flyers lose the better players but those players hopefully would have been depth players in ~5 years. I’m okay with this trade if the Flyers are picking in the top 5 the next few years.
Dustin Wolf was drafted in the 7th round.

God damn that 2028 7th was essential to close the deal. Don’t know how it could have been done without it.
Who knows.. Philly may end up drafting another Dustin Wolf with that pick.

Philly just waving the white flag on the season I guess? Seems like an odd deal for them all around.

Calgary seems to get much more solid (on paper anyway) while the Flyers are adding a very non-Tortorella type and a smaller energy winger.

How does the Calgary lineup look after this deal? Does Pospisil go back up with the big line? Keep the incoming Flyers together and drop Sharangovich down to the fourth line, sending Rooney to the stands?

Huberdeau - Kadri - Pospisil
Coleman - Backlund - Coronato
Farabee - Frost - Klapka
Lomberg - Sharangovich - Bishop

That’s a pretty solid lineup (in my opinion) on a low budget.

Just missing 5 top-6 forwards but otherwise very solid

The only way the 7th rounder makes sense is that Briere wanted a late round pick and said dealer's choice to Conroy...

I think Flyers fans will like Pelletier and Kuzmenko more than they'd expect, but I don't blame flyers fans for being disappointed in the return.

Am I right in understanding that it took Briere 3 years (2 as a GM and 1 as an assistant) to realize Farabee and Frost are not a core to be a contender, and he finally starts fire sale? Omg, this organization is literally joke.

COVID-19, war and supporting Flyers are not a good mix for the best years of life

Unless Philly hits a home run with those picks this is a terrible deal for them particularly since Kuzy will only be there about a month most likely.

I think the Flyers make out okay here! The Devil is in the details on this one, I think

Farabee is turning 25yo, signed 'til 2028 for 5m and has underperformed. Frost is arbitration eligible this summer at 26yo and likely wasnt signing long-term in Philly.

Pelletier is also arb eligible but will only be 24 and proven less

I think the market for these two has been overstated. Briere maybe should have made this deal a year or two ago though (and probably never hired Tortorella too!!)

This trade just seems weird for the Flyers and good for the Flames.

Farabee is only 24 and has shown enough to be a 40-50 point winger at minimum, but having a bad year. Frost has been playing a top 6 C role and clearly has talent.

Pelltier looks useful but isn't quite there yet, Kuzmenko will either be a genius move or be gone.

It isn't completely horrible value for the Flyers based on right now but it is selling low.

Every team has "that" guy in the media and for the flames it is Eric Francis. On the surface it looks like a win for the flames but not as big as win as Francis is making it out to be. There are two ways to look at how Farabee is playing this year. Either he is struggling or he is playing how he played in first 4 seasons of his career. He had a break out last season but regressed to how he was before. Will be interesting to which way work out. I like Frost, just do not ask him to do too much. He is a solid player. For me, what the Flames gave up means little. The Russian guy maybe on 5 mill a year but he is a UFA in the off season vs Farabee who is signed for 3 more season at 5 mill. Having money laying around to do stuff is king in the NHL and the flyers had soured on Farabee. The moved his entire contract without taken much money back. I like Jakob Pelletier and I think he could be a little pain in the ass to the teams playing the flyers. He just needs to stay healthy. For me the key to the trade is the Flyers freeing up money for the off season. They got rid of one player who the organization turned against for whatever reason. The Frost loss I think hurts more. They have freed up money for the off season. Changes ae coming and they will need some money to spend

He was almost a PPG last season for Calgary and scored 14 goals in 29 games.
Small sample size. He was motivated for a short while after trade and returned to producing like he was in 2023/2024 before the trade.
If Rick Tocchet had him in the doghouse then I don't even want to think what Torts will do to him.

Daniel Brière is a clown , wtf is he doing

As a Rangers fan I always wanted Farabee in the 18 draft, but the Rangers had to pick Kravtsov. As a Rangers fan, I don’t get this trade for the Flyers at all Kuzmenko is KHL bound in my opinion soon.. Farabee can score 30 in my opinion and always sticks up for teammates and plays a gritty game. Wish he was a Ranger.

Briere didn't hire Torts, Chuck Fletcher did. He was thinking "ohmygod everyone realizes i'm bad at being a gm I NEED TO CREATE A DISTRACTION welcome to Philadelphia, John Tortorella."

I still think Pelletier can be a decent middle 6 player. He was solid for the Flames this year. I know any team could have had him for free at the start of the season, but he’s been very good. Solid two-way guy with some scoring touch.
