lol, yeah, they've got a cheap roster right now
And now have 8 pending UFAs and 5 RFAs currently on their roster, so they've got a lot wiggle room this summer

You do realize that is physically not possible right? He didn't even have 14 points that season for the Flames, how could he possible be a ppg in the prior 14 games? He had 6 points and was playing better sure but that doesn't change the fact that he had only 6 points in the prior 24 gamesI wish I could see a bright spot for this for Philly but I don’t. Kuzmenko is slow and isn’t shooting much this year. Pelletier is a heart and soul guy but has stone hands and a muffin shot.
Bennett was ppg in his last 14 games leading up to the trade and rescinded his request after Sutter was hired. It was an idiotic trade as soon as it went through
the 43M is accrued cap space
The value in the deal for the Flyers is trading 3+ more years of $5M Farabee for expiring $5.5M Kuzmenko. It's to get out of the Farabee contract to have more cap flexibility in the future.
It's a similar trade to Hartnell for Umberger, Voracek for Atkinson, or that convoluted 3 team Cal Petersen deal.
The value is in the contracts, not the players.
Who are the big fish UFAs the Flyers might take runs at July 1?lol, yeah, they've got a cheap roster right now

We'll see what happens for sure, but I really like both guys we acquired.... sad Pelts is gone, he was already one of my favorite players, but this trade is all win. I suspect Farabee with slot in Pelletier's spot with Huberdeau and Kadri... while Frost will probably center Sharangovich and Pospisil, with Pos being a guy that can open up some space for Frost.Conroy moved Pelletier at his highest point - a guy that was previously on waivers - and leveraged that into a high upside deal for them imo. Credit to him he's done really good work.
I guess the + for Philly is that Pelletier could be a long term player for them. Whereas Frost obviously wasnt going to be. And they get a 2nd they could package in other deals. (Highly unlikely Kuz works with Torts imo)
I guess we'll see how Frost does in Calgary. I think Farabee will be a good player for them but I'm less confident in Frost.
If Pelletier & Farabee both work out as good 2nd line/middle 6 players then I guess the deal isn't so bad for the Flyers.
It's not hindsight when tons of people were talking about how he was being misused as a bottom 6 winger. He's a center who should have been playing with other skilled players.I think you are looking at it with far too much hindsight. I do math for a living and I don't think I could count amount of times he would either out dangle himself and turnover the puck, or take some boneheaded offensive zone penalty. He was fantastic in the playoffs but that playoff success was 100% the reason we got the return we did and not something closer to Puljujarvi.
"Just a 100 point winger and a 1C away from an elite top 6" is not really saying much. Then trade one of them away for a centre, Rantanen is better than all of them. Or you could slide tippet and Konecny to the LW and have you top 6 be
Konecny-Cates-Rantanen
Tippett-Couterier-Michkov
If you can add a 1C or a 2C to that group thats an elite top 6.
"We're almost there but I feel like I need to get a bit more value Craig"All I want to know is what in the f***ing world possible dialogue could’ve been said from either party to explain why there’s a 7th round draft pick FOUR drafts from now included in the trade.
They were rebuilding until Wolf said no
I doubt most will make it to UFA but Marner, Rantanen, and Ehlers headline the crop.Who are the big fish UFAs the Flyers might take runs at July 1?
Kuzmenko - this is an interesting one. I can't imagine Torts will like him much. High-end skill, a lethal shot, great interviews... that's about it. He is slow, doesn't play defence well and is not physical. It will be very interesting to see how he gets along with Torts.
I hope there was a bunch of back and forth on that pick in particular. All I want to know is what in the f***ing world possible dialogue could’ve been said from either party to explain why there’s a 7th round draft pick FOUR drafts from now included in the trade.
Make a call to your buddy Sweeney and get us some players via a tradeI have a feeling kuz will explode in philly .
