That's not really productive.

You can look at the history of cap dump oriented trades and clearly see no contract as bad as Neals has ever been dumped, and contracts that were nowhere near as bad have cost significant amounts to be moved. It's perfectly reasonable to point out how absurd Neal's inclusion in the proposal is.

Remember this trade?

Also take into fact that those "cap dumps" where on the down fall for years, Neal's literally had a rough start and hasn't found many chemistry, he's scored at least 20+ goals in every single season he's been in the league, on every single team hesh been in except Calgary, if he picks it up soon, I expect him to get around 10 more goals to finish off this season and have a few big ones in the PO

You could have said the same thing in year 1 of Ladd or Ericsson's decline.

No GM is taking a player having Neal's season with Neal's contract in a trade like the one in the OP. I don't even get why it's such a shocking statement to some people in this thread.

He's 32 next season with four years left. This isn't some 25 year old hitting a slump. Teams can't gamble 23M of cap that a player will return to form at that age. It just doesn't happen.

Well they were obviously kept by their team, if they would of been traded maybe they could have bounced back, certain systems/coaches don't mesh with certain players, if Calgary moves Neal only after a single bad year would be smarter than seeing if he bounces back the following season in the same system, look at the Rask vs Nino trade, a team weak on wingers/goal scorers shouldn't be afraid of him if they have the cap and know theyre getting four quality young pieces also(2 top 60 picks and 2 top 5 prospects) for a player who could still walk away from our organization in the summer, it's a steal for Ott, they could get a 20 goal scorer + a top 4 d(Kylington) + a middle six F(Dube) + whatever the picks become (I would see them targetting an F with the 1st and G/D with he 2nd)

That's fine. The Flames are first in the conference and he is part of the team. He is not producing as expected but he makes their bottom 6 dangerous. As long as they are winning, no problem.
