He will be a great point producer in the AHL, and a half-decent fill-in for injuries with the big club.

Wasn't last year - like 3 goals in 26 games in Utica. Actually was very poor.

Looked better when he got back to the NHL. Better with better players like when he built up AHL stats playing with the Monarchs on a line with Toffoli and Pearson. Of course, LA used that to flog him on the hapless Benning.

Player is hopeless in his own end.

Liked him as a Kings prospect. Thought he would be better in the NHL. His scoring has not translated from Junior like I would have thought, and his defensive game needs to improved.

Wish him the best, hope it works out.

Alway great to get a player that can play two forward positions. Hopefully he gets a chance to play on the top line. He did produce in Medicine Hat, and may click with Hunter S. as well? With a 2way contract it's worth a shot.

Team do not resign dozen of players that does not mean they are cancer...they just dont fit, no good or need a change.

I dont see how a minor league signing is a bad move....

What did he do to be labelled cancer?

and Stockton gained some center/RW depth. With the loss of Derek Grant, Bill Arnold, and Drew Shore, the Heat desperately needed some replacements. Only centers they have right now are Jankowski, and possibly Pollock.

Not a bad signing at all tbh. Linden Vey would've been a decent enough AHL vet scorer and serviceable NHL call-up by most measures. Unfortunately, the Canucks coaching staff could not help themselves, the Medicine Hat bond was just too strong - and Vey ended up in absurdly overplayed situations way over his head for the Canucks.

As long as Willie Desjardins' completely over-the-top affinity for this player has not rubbed off on Gulutzan, the Flames should be just fine with Vey. He's a real good kid who works hard and has the vision and skillset to be a productive farmhand, who can play a few minutes in a short-term NHL call-up if absolutely necessary.

I'll break down in complete hysterics if it turns out that after all this time, it was actually Gulutzan who was the one with the absurd fascination with playing Linden Vey all the time, and he brings that tendency to the Flames.

There are dozens of examples around the league of depth players who weren't re-signed, are we supposed to assume they're all cancers too, or do you have some evidence to back up your claim about Vey?

Wish the guy all the best after what's certainly been a very trying and tumultuous period in his life...

...but THANK GOD someone else signed him. Not big enough, not fast enough, not strong enough, not anything enough to beat out even the motley assortment of players we've got. And our coach just kept on rolling him out there, over and over and over again. Seriously, he as much if not more icetime than the Sedins some games. It was just ridiculous.

Thank you Flames for doing a little bit to help save our coach from himself.

Never ever not once have I heard anything negative about Vey personally. Completely baseless accusation.

We in LA traded him because he was a cancer. Not because we ripped, err got a 2nd rounder for him.

Linden Vey may be a fine person, but when it comes to NHL hockey he just isn't good enough at anything regarding the actual game of hockey to be an everyday player. He's small weak and not great defensively. He's your classic Kyle Wellwood like player, not strong enough or chippy enough to be a bottom6 guy with offence and he isn't good enough at any other aspect to compensate being a 1way offensive player.
He's a decent AHL veteran, last year he had trouble scoring in Utica but the Comets are a notorious low scoring team. If you expect nothing from him from this point until the end of his contract you won't ever be surprised.

Good luck Vey, wish you success with Calgary. Not his fault our coach fed him as many minutes as the Sedins or more on a regular basis.

Change of scenery might do him good.

Yeah I'd like to hear more details about this "cancer" issue. Assuming it's a load of crap I have no problem giving him a two-way contract. Sometimes a second chance and a fresh start in a new environment can do wonders for someone who needs to forget much of their past.
