I liked Eakin when he was in Dallas, he was just trying to be pushed too far up the lineup- totally serviceable player
...the ability to have a penalty called on him at the absolute worst time and cost his team??...just throwing a net here...

He still has one of the most random fights I've ever seen when he fought Iginla. The guy had never dropped his gloves or even been a physical player and then out of nowhere he's fighting one of the tougher guys in the league.

He’s terrible but somehow has conned fans of random teams into thinking he’s still decent.
But most PTO guys are bad NHL players so not a big deal.

Replacement level player. Should fit right in on our 4th line with the other 3 replacement level players there. We are allergic to giving our farm guys who tear up the AHL a shot or moving a defenseman for the top 6 forward we are missing.

This is just a little no cost insurance in case things don't pan out for the farm guys in pre season. Honestly, if they can't beat out Eakin for a spot on the roster they really don't deserve to move up from the AHL
They were better than our entire 4th line last year and didn't get a shot. Lewis was good in the playoffs and Lucic for the first 30 games but our 4th line was a black hole of suck other than that.

At the very least we need a 13th and 14th forward. Having a prospect like Zary or similar sit in the pressbox all year is a complete waste. We saw exactly that with Valimaki for half of last year

Agreed on the not having guys sitting in the pressbox. Just thought we already had that player in Rooney/Lewis/Lucic.
