More than just serviceable, he was very dependable, and wasn’t being sheltered at all.

Surprised how good he was after so many seasons of being blah. Then came playoff time and he just kept it going. Probably the most trusted dman they had.

It’s always interesting when this happens and rarely is it ever discussed much. When a player who has all the tools, just never really reaches expectations. Then ends up in a new home and thrives. In his case it’s hard to believe he spent that many years just not playing with confidence or asserting himself. With 3 other teams too.

The Oilers hit big bringing him in, and to be honest, there’s nothing to suggest it won’t continue for the rest of his contract at only $3 million. Like I said, he wasn’t sheltered at all.

The Oilers missed a golden opportunity last year when Hamphuis Lindholm was on the table. How did they not push hard to get him? They should have mortgaged the future to land him. Pay whatever the asking price was. He's exactly what their Blueline needs. The Oilers haven't been able to replace Klefbom or Larsson.
