Yuck.

I don't even see the room for it. 8 D?

Giordano - Brodie
Jokkipakka - Hamilton
Kulak - Engelland
Grossman - Wideman

Doesn't sound like they want to send Kulak down, so wtf? Trade in the works?

Yeah not sure why they signed him. Maybe not happy with Jokkpakka/Engelland/Wideman or not confident in Kulak and Wotherspoon.

Very strange

I think there just running 8 so they dont need to make a call-up. I think they will send Kulak down if there arnt any injuries in the first few games. Grossman is just going to be the 7th defensemen so Kulak can play everyday be it the NHL or AHL

Please insert him in the line-up Wednesday and Friday... Connor would like to practice a couple moves. But tell him to stop frisking guys in the corner. Seriously though... that not a great signing for the Flames.

On the other hand the Versteeg signing was solid. :(

He's the 7th, maybe 8th defenseman for the team and making the league minimum. Even if he ends up being terrible he will hardly play and we can bury 100% of his salary in the minors.

Not difficult to understand. Flames are up against the cap, and this is just a depth signing. You don't want a rookie sitting that many games. Grossman will get less than 20 games this year. He will be rotated-in now and then when another bottom-pairing defencemen needs to sit, or during an injury when the Flames are on the road and can't call a player up in time for the game.

Nothing wrong with an absolute league minimum signing. In the preseason, he looked slow, but his IQ seemed pretty good. He is a defensive defencemen that adds some physicality. Flames have plenty of puck-movers, but only Engelland as a physical guy.

Solid depth move at league minimum. Not many other options available for that price.

For Calgarys sake, I hope Grossmann is a spare to bring on the road.

The guy has the heart of a lion but is possibly the slowest defensemen in the NHL.

I haven't seen him lately but he was a good player for philly. Nice add for a 7th d. Don't expect more than a solid stay at home bottom pairing guy and he'll deliver

But I said "please". :D

I assumed as much. He's kind of like our Gryba.

Yea, we really need a youngster being our number 7!

Some of you are so daft.

Yup thats why he's playing tonight right?? Kulak and Joki aren't even injured so what would be the reason for them to put Grossman in?? Please tell me why with your crystal ball. Why even waste a game on him.
