Cfl 2025

Soon to be heard at High School football fields across Edmonton when a point after is kicked.

" And there's another ball for C...F.....L.... Football!!!!
Yes-- the roster yesterday was no indication of the club's talent. Virtually no projected starters were in the game. There will be a bunch of cuts tomorrow.

Look at all the work they have done on the offensive and defensive lines. I am looking forward to seeing this group in action. We'll see most of them next week.

I stopped reading when you used the word “woke.” I hated the name change too but while I agree with most of your points, the losing record is the major cause of fans leaving — not the name change. Attendance is declining across the league. Television is a big cause of that.
At my grandma's funeral not long ago, my dad was doing the eulogy and went out of his way to say "Eskimos" in reference to where his mom had worked. Got a big cheer from everyone...which is weird for a funeral. But the point stands.

I used to know a few people in the Eskimo ticket office--just the nicest and most honest people you could ever meet. I remember one year (long ago) I sent in my cheque for the season tickets and I accidentally overpaid by one dollar. You guessed it--they sent me a cheque back for a dollar. I never forgot that gesture.

What really angered me abut the name change was the way the football club was portrayed in the media--especially the national media. I will always remember how Lisa Laflamme from CTV announced that the "racist" club from Edmonton was changing its name. I knew how wrong that was. I knew the quality of people who worked there. It wasn't so much the name change as it was the false accusations.

Regardless, time to move on and put some of this stuff in our rear view mirror. Winning football sells tickets and restores pride--no matter what the club calls itself.

Not an Eskimo, but I applaud gramma and dad for their passion and commitment. I think we’d get along even though I’m a Saskie Rider.

Seems like a bit of a mistake to me not to play some starters this past weekend. From what Kilam said we are only looking at them for half of next game.

For a team that was being reconstructed you'd think they'd want to work out more kinks in the pre-season rather than playing 3rd and 4th string players.

My thoughts too. The time for miscalculations is over. For Edmonton fans its win now.

Boston Pizza is on my no-fly no-eat list for their part in the debacle. Mind you, easy to do, as I remember last time I went to one of their establishments, the food was terrible and service even worse.

Agreed and way overpriced for a lot of dishes but time for the Eskimos and the City of Edmonton to move on to a new era. As I have said before, no matter what the name is, winning football wins new customers. The last reign of Chris Jones will always be remembered as the worst days in the history of the club. Hard to believe the performances we saw out there. The team is on the upswing now. I'll be very pleased if they go 9-9 this season.

Did the Elks take all 3rd stringers to Calgary?

4 offside calls in the first half by the d line for not giving a yard off the ball lol

And almost every kick in the first half had a player inside the 5 yard halo of the returner. Wasn't a good look as a lot of players seemed to have no clue about the rule differences. Was a little better in the second half, but still not good.

Agree. And Iam annoyed by everyone on social media who say it's only preseason.

This is a new rookie coach, new system, new culture etc etc etc. They aren't gonna just flip the switch after two preseason games.

Let's see how it goes Friday.

Well frankly, I'm in the same headspace as them. It was a rookie filled roster playing their first game vs. a starter filled line up in their 2nd game. The blowout was very likely. My only concerns were the penalties, but again, those are penalties that can be fixed and most of the guys committing those penalties won't be starting Week 1.

I'm expecting a better showing Friday. Don't necessarily care about the final score, but would like to see an oline that gives the QBs and RBs time and space to make some plays and in turn the RBs and QBs turning that time and space into actual big gains whether on the ground or through the air.

With a bunch of the dline starters as well, I need to see some real pressure on BCs backfield and hopefully at least a couple sacks and multiple stops for 1 yard or less.

If we see those things, I couldn't care less about this first pre-season game. If we don't see it, I'll be a bit concerned going into Week 1 with what will likely be a packed house in BC with Snoop Dogg performing and a motivated BC team wanting to show the late season collapse wasn't indicative of the team's ability.

Then after that it's a bye week before facing Montreal and Winnipeg in Weeks 3-4. could get away from them pretty quickly if they start slow.

Don’t say I’m not looking out for you Elkimo fans. Get your new threads and get them signed on June5th.

PS - great news about Dwayne Mandrusiak back in the org. His “dismissal” was example #1 of what was wrong with this org under Presson, etc..

You guys have an awesome owner. He’s one of you!

I’m almost green with envy. ;)

You can not argue the point that if this league does not fix its identity problem and stops kissing the asses of the Skittles club it's done for ... I recall being -20 and fans would still go and support the team, but it not been happening so much these days regardless of winning record or not, its the culture

Elks organization / Larry Thompson hitting home run after home run. Righting mistakes from the past.
Bringing Dwayne back is the right thing to do.
Bringing back the traditional look of the jerseys is the right thing to do.
Hopefully returning the team to winning ways is next on the list...
I'll jump on board when the name goes back to Eskimos..

Would you just stop already with the dumb skittles thing? You’ve dug such a deep hole with it already. I come to read about the team and positive developments with the new owner, not the same old rehash of a years old issue.
