The Bombers….once again packing a knife to a gunfight.
Yeah, let’s park Oliveira…we should be good.
The rule isn't a punt interference rule, it's interference on a loose ball. The guy doesn't interfere and the Bombers would have got the ball no matter who recovered.Argos defense was great. The blocked punt interference rule is bad. Definitely played a major factor.
Not this cowboy.Despite everything that's been bad about the Esks/Elks since 2006 (including the overwhelmingly negative posts I just read here) I'm about to renew my EE season tickets for a 28th season mostly because of hope generated by the Chris Morris hiring. I guess that makes me not as savvy as the 2nd 3rd & 4th guessing, sarcastic, condescending, sick of the quirky CFL, change hating, staus quo hating, no longer residing near YEG, Rider loving, stuck in the past, ignorant of the present, serially pessimistic, pissed off for good reason, generally pissed off always bunch who post in this thread. See you at Commonwealth next year...er, I mean probably not.
P.S.: I'm looking forward to watching today's Grey Cup game just like I've done every year since I was in Gr. 2 and Russ Jackson & the Ottawa Rough Riders were the equivalent of Zach Collaros & the Winnipeg Blue Bombers today.
Like Andy Warhol said...everybody gets their 15 minutes of fame. I guess its 60 minutes for Arbuckle. Credit due for sticking with the CFL game until his chance arrived.Arbuckle the MVP. Lol. What a league.

Sure the players should know the rules but its a damn stupid rule. When a punt is blocked and no first down is gained with where ball is recovered it should be automatic turnover on downs. Ball possession, logically speaking is determined when play is blown dead. To have a rule that reverses that and somehow results in a first down and ball being retained is ridiculous. Its a joke of a rule. By all means call a penalty on loose ball foul, but where the ball is it should still be turnover on downs with penalty applied. It shouldn't be first down for the team that had the kick blocked.Garbage time TD gives the Bombers a respectable amount of points scored. Toronto defence crushed them twice in the regular season why expect something different today? The demolished them again today. One long bomb and a big rush by Oliveira was about all the did.
The penalty on the blocked punt was ridiculous. The players should know the rules. He could have let the Argo recover the ball and just tackled him. It would have been a Bombers' first down. Too bad, so sad.
Solid game by Arbuckle. Over 36 minutes time of possession. The first pick he threw was like a punt, the second was Willie Jefferson being Willie Jefferson.

Yeah. Just idiotic play calling from the start. With a running game like that you should be playing a ball possession game, making drives, tiring out Argos D. They do just the opposite with a bunch of long balls and bad throws and low % plays from the start. Just incredibly weird way to play a game and featuring why the Bombers have lost 3 GC's in a row. I felt even at halftime the Bombers had lost this. Even kicking FG's only Argos had the mojo. Then when Whitehead imploded and Argos scored a TD a play later. At that point would bet it was over. Collaros busted finger kind of gives an excuse that isn't really there. Game was sliding before he even got hurt. Truth he never had it going, never got the offense going. He failed to do that in first half and was worse in 2nd. Collaros with an absolute choke again in the GC. Ends up being what you're remembered for.The Bombers….once again packing a knife to a gunfight.

Said the same earlier. Worse, Whitehead did this two playoff games in a row. Would not have this player in lineup, ever. His return fumble in the Western final and failure to just jump on the ball. I wouldn't trust the player.Game turned with the Unlucky Whitehead self gaffe return fumble. Wheels fell off thereafter. Collaris underwhelming again. Weird penalty on the Bummers big punt block was likely the time of death.

Nothing wrong in what you're saying, just a stupid rule.
I guess in a sense. Could see it both ways. No way were the Argos getting a first down out of that or even trying to run it. Both teams trying to just get ball. Dumb play by the Bomber, likely didn't even know or remember the rule, but to give a first down on that just seems weak to me.It's unfortunate in this instance, but I don't think it's a stupid rule. The kicking team still has the right to try and scoop up a loose ball and advance it for a first down. If they get interfered with, it ought to be a penalty.
As bad as Winnipeg was most of the game, if this penalty doesn't occur and Lucky (for Toronto) Whitehead doesn't cough up that ball, the Bombers still probably win an ugly one. Inexcusable errors by the same unit at the worst possible moments. Tough way to lose.

Its like the other dumb rule in the CFL that you can just kick he ball and fall on it and its an automatic first down. Are they getting rid of that rule? Just makes it harder to keep watching with rules that reward failure to legit get first down.
That just underscores how important defence is to winning championships.Maas/Fajardo was at least a plausible redemption story last year. Nick Arbuckle of all people walking in off the street and winning Grey Cup MVP is a bit much for me. Like f***ing really? The line between Cinderella story and lack of league credibility feels like it's in view here.
That should have been done with the week after it first happened.I guess in a sense. Could see it both ways. No way were the Argos getting a first down out of that or even trying to run it. Somebody replied: " Biznasty will find her" wins the internet. Really I'm thankful the broadcast didn't show this.
The funny part if the one team that hardly anyone in TO cares about is the only one that wins championships. How about that Toronto mojo in Grey Cups? 8 wins in a row is unbelievable considering they haven't been favoured in any of the last five. The Argos have been average for 20 years and consistently win a quarter of the championships. Just one of those CFL things lol.
That just underscores how important defence is to winning championships.
Toronto's defence ultimately won this Cup.
They have won 2 Cups and it didnt seem to matter who their QB was.
thats why I always laugh when people from vancouver and toronto try to make fun of people living in edmonton/calgary.Toronto gets Taylor Swift, the Grey Cup, and a Leafs win over the Oilers in one weekend. Still makes it a place where a broom closet cost 1K. month to rent. Free stinky mops included. Price you have to pay to live in the Center of the Universe. (maximum sarcasm)
Toronto can be a nice visit, but seriously these prices to live there? I went off topic. Just something I was pondering after reading an article about all the people that Live in Toronto and know they can't afford to live there but for some reason stay there.
Its a paywall but interesting article. Just use paywall reader or some such to unlock. "Impossibly unaffordable" yep.
Where dreams go to drown: What it's like to live in Canada's impossibly unaffordable city
Side hustles, renting forever, bankruptcy. Five Torontonians reveal the realities of the affordability crisis in their daily lives.nationalpost.com
Should probably be OT but what the hell.
Why less than 1 in 6 Torontonians can afford to buy a home in the city - The Green Line
In 1974, the price of a house was $52,806. Last year, the average selling price of a Toronto home was $1,126,604.thegreenline.to
What sick times we live in. That comparison isn't even apples to apples. In 1974 you're getting an average house. In 2024 paying over a Million for a condo or subdivided or some shit. But you'll have some granite counters and nice lighting and be a mortgage slave the rest of your life.
Damn straight on that. Here you get a Beautiful affordable house with a nice lot and fantastic Garden. Would cost 2M in either Vancouver or Toronto. Quality of life and affordability coincides. Could never understand the mentalities that WANT gentrification. "If only Edmonton were a world class city" careful what some wish for. Like it the way it is. Liked it even more before bracket creep started.thats why I always laugh when people from vancouver and toronto try to make fun of people living in edmonton/calgary.
Atleast my house has a yard and im not paying the same price for a bachelor pad.
Theres a reason tons of people from those area's are moving to alberta.
McManis said don't ride the wave, be the wave. What a guy. You love looking at turnovers and I thought of you when Lucky made that another brutal play. Whats he even doing? Replays showed he fumbled the ball on his own. What a clown. Can't secure a ball to save his job. Doubt he'll have one and I hope not here.I'd go one further and say you need a defense that specifically creates turnovers. Winnipeg had a great defense too, but didn't make things all that tough on Arbuckle. The Jefferson manufactured turnover was their one big play, but their offense only mustered a field goal. Toronto's D just seemed more involved in the game play to play.
