With the exception of the 5 in a row Eskie dynasty (1977-82) you have to think that the Bombers in the last 7 years are the greatest team in CFL history.

The only other teams that compare (to the 2 aforementioned) would be the Ottawa Rough Riders of the late 1960's, the Eskimos from 1954-56 and honorable mention for some of those Stamps teams of the 1990's.

What a masterful performance from Kenny Lawler. One of the best to have played in the CFL. Much of the Bomber success is attributable to keeping the guys together for years even under a very tight CFL cap. The EE have to follow that example.

Have we forgotten about the Calvillo-era Als already? That team went to 8 Grey Cups in 11 years overall, only winning three times however. Those early 00s rosters under Don Matthews were pretty loaded, and that next group under Trestman was great too. The Bombers can match their win total in three fewer years, but don't think I'd rate them ahead of those Alouettes teams quite yet.

They didn’t pass up though, they bid on the game, and announced they were disappointed they didn’t get it. Selling tickets to the game wouldn’t have been an issue, many out of town fans come, would have been a major financial win for the new owner to help him offset losses he will likely have the first few years.
100% this. It's a slap in Larry's face after he put his own money on the line to give it to his rivals to the south. Likely would have been a boost to season ticket sales knowing a Grey Cup was coming along with the hype that started to build after the new owner was announced. Instead, they've likely set things up that Edmonton can't get one until 2029 at the earliest. 2027 will go to an Eastern team as they wouldn't want four in a row in the West unless no eastern team makes a bid. Then 2028 will go to Montreal who has gone the longest and should have a renovated Olympic Stadium to show off.

2029. Larry isn't the youngest owner in the league, hopefully he gets to stick around long enough to see this through.

Calvillo's Alouettes are in the conversation as well, though likely fall a bit short of being one of those "top" teams despite having played in 8 out of 11 Grey Cups 2000-2010, but because the rest of the East was so poor through most of his run and like the Bombers (if the were to lose again this week) they lost a few too many of those cup appearances (3-5 overall).

They should have lost in 2009 and in 2010. Too many men penalty in 09 and a last minute INT from Darian in 10 in Edmonton.

Yes.Still bugs me.

No I can’t let it go.

I'd argue they shouldn't have won 2002 either when you look at the overall flow of play in that one. 7 first downs in an entire game must be a record for the least by a winning team ever in a Grey Cup game, and 35% must also be a record for the worst completion rate ever for a Grey Cup MVP. 3 completions in the entire second half!!!

2002 Grey Cup Play by Play

At least we had 2003 and 2005 to take away the sting of losing that one at home though.

Can we please have someone post the Tony Gabriel touchdown in the 1976 Grey Cup to win it with 31 seconds left?

Oh wait a minute - found it!

Are you guys trying to be mean now?

Watching any video with “He who shall not be named” in it is just cruelty. I never opened the video. I know what happens.

The roof work is underway. I'm not sure how much else is changing but it appears as though it will be usable again at some point in the not too distant future. Earlier this year the suggestion was 2028, so unless they experience delays between now and when they'd likely announce the host 2 years from I could see them pushing for a game.
