It's not the typical signing for this team, they rarely go for longtime MLS vets like him. He'll bring some stability to the midfield at the very least . He can play in both a defense or an offense oriented role, so he'll also bring some flexibility to the lineup. He's a jack of all trades mid, very steady. Nothing too spectacular, but he does everything well.

Is he good? Can he fight?

Keep in mind that we have no midfield depth, nobody to rotate.

Last season: He started 24 games, played in 30 of the 34. He was left out the lineup with an injury for one game and was suspended once.

I haven't checked but he could be the oldest player right now on the squad (and maybe for the whole upcoming season)

I'll add.. most of the guys we've been rumored with are tall. Let's be honest, we suck on aerial duels. We've lost points and games to this specific aspect of the game. We need to be less soft

Assuming a similar starting lineup to last year, you're looking at a lineup that has 4 starting midfielders.

Assuming again the same 4 players start, you're looking at Clarke, Duke, Saliba and Piette.

After that you have......Biello, and maybe Iankov if they can't find a team to send him to.

So you are correct. Our midfield depth right now is garbage and even then, Duke to me still has question marks around his ability to be a consistent starter, and Biello should either get real minutes or be loaned out.

We also have no true, reliable striker up top, backup keeper, CB depth, and backup LB.

This does not include the recent draft picks.

Aside from that though we're looking spectacular. #Saputosknowbest

Coccaro is officially gone too

Training camp starts in a month, there's still time I guess :dunno:
The European Transfer window just opened too

I'm not expecting big names but I hope to get better fillers

At least we made a few bucks on the load, there's that I guess. Too bad it didn't work out, I had high hopes for the guy when we got him. We still need to figure the striker position out, as is now a yearly tradition for this team :help:

I think Adedokoun is going to get minutes behind Clark.

They have like two weeks to find a CB, a LWB and the team's best player.
They still need another 1 or 2 midfielders. As I mentioned above, they usually start 4 in the midfield, and with this signing, and assuming Iankov doesn't come back, that still only leaves 3 midfielders in total, two of which you can't count on due to age (Biello and Adedokoun). This also assumes that JAV and Opoku aren't suitable replacements either, which I don't.

Was just about to mention that post about Corbo. Who knows. Even if he comes back, we still need 1 or 2 more as it would leave us with 4 or 5 depending on the Corbo situation. IMO you need 5 dependable CB's and the 6th can be more of a project (Jabang).

Backup left back 100% a need and as you said, our best player in the form of a striker.

Piette called and said he's still a midfielder on this team ;)
