So we finally confirm who's running the sporting side.

Luca and Simone have a face.

I liked the article, hopefully the kids manage the team with less emotion and more smarts than their father.

As far as nepotism like that goes, we could do worst I guess. Although it's pretty clear they have little to no qualifications, outside of having been around the team a lot and their family name.

I haven't read the article yet but if they're surrounded by people who know the job (like Crezemandis or Cory Wray recently) and they only take the final decisions, it'll be fine I guess.

There were rumors recently on the Saputos buying another team (in Belgium?)

Them being mostly hands off would be the best case scenario for us, I could live with that, we don't have another option anyway. I just don't want baby versions of Joey to go around firing people left and right on a whim and thinking they know better about football than most :help:

They are using the media to try and give the kids legitimacy. They have no business whatsoever being involved on the soccer side of things. This further cements my running commentary that this whole venture is just a toy for the Saputo's and their kids to play with and that this will never be a serious soccer team until every iota of the families presence would be erased from the team.

I don't care if they bring in great soccer minds because we all know that either them, or Joey, will one day step in and f*** things up.

I get that the owners will always have a say, but that families level of influence on all the decisions will always end up being a negative in the end.

And the majority of fans will just continue to bend over and be grateful towards them because they did something 20 years.

Josef staying would have been shocking tbh
Staying yes. But I think most people were expecting the team to trigger the option and then trade so they could get some value, basically what they did with Kamara.

I'm also expecting 2 - 3 more strikers to leave so another position that they're going to have to completely re-tool along with CB's.

I still had a tiny sliver of hope that he might reconsider, but I guess he's looking to play for a contender and we just can’t guarantee that. Them not even picking up his option makes me think his agent might have made a few threats and they decided they didn't want to make a scene.

Still expecting 1 or 2 more departures from the backline along with the expectation that Sosa and Corbo are already gone.

Montreal was in full control here. They had an option year and very easily could have triggered it and then traded him to at least get a draft pick or some more GAM money. Threats or no threats, they were in control.

Aside from that, seems like the issues was monetary rather than playing for a contender which no one should be surprised about.
