Doesn't look better than Edwards at first glance, but you might be right.

We're officially the Charlotte Hornets of MLS.

Just a loser franchise where results don't matter anymore because expectations are set low.

Last year I was more optimistic but this year takes the cake. How did you manage to dump all the bad contracts to bring even worse contracts.

Owusu is a capable MLS Striker but as TAM is a joke

Related to ex-IMFC Michael Petrasso. I knew I recognized that name immediately. What a bum he was.

This thread has become a cesspool for the frustrated and is not a representation of the majority of the fan base. This team made the playoffs last year against all odds. They sold out most of the season. Made significant positive investments (players and coaching staff) in the offseason and yet the sky is falling.

Every move, every development only has one response. It's Joey's fault. This minority faction of the fan base will only be happy when Saputo sells the team and then they will be the first to cry that the franchise has moved.

Listen, I've been following this team since at least 2004. Back then, Saputo and the Impact were the big fish on the small pond. Even then, you could see how nepotism was rampant in the management of the team. The move to MLS only exacerbated this. But also the constant interference from the owner into matters that he's not an expert on.

Then one year, they have the best coach in their history and the best in MLS today and because of the owner's ego, he's not here anymore.

We quickly forget how almost every year, it's a gong show. The rebranding, key elements of the org suddenly leaving, poor hirings, conflict with the fans (constantly blaming the fans for the attendance, conflict with the Ultras, etc.), etc. I forgot a bunch of things myself.

They didn't do any investments this year. They replaced staff.

Oh and they sold out because of Messi. Let's not kid ourselves.

I'm sorry but aside from that group on Facebook filled with bootlickers and casuals, it's tough not to be cynical about the overall management of this team. It's the bare minimum, at least they're developing young kids from here. I guess that's a big plus.

You sound like a shill they sent out.

No one cares about Joey anymore. I know few people from different fanbase and he's seen as a joke all throughout the league. No one takes him seriously.

Only reason why they made the playoffs : Josef Martinez. Now he's gone to another team as non-DP for a 1 year + 1 option, which is exactly what he signed here for. He said on the record that he wanted to stay in Montreal. A report stated that Josef couldn't find an agreement with the management. That's a big fat lie and another distraction by this club ran like a political party.

Let's not even entertain as to why they sold out, you know why, let's not play games now

What most people want is a capable striker that can bag +15-18 goals. You get that and 80% of the critics will cease.

You completely missed my point. I don't expect bootlickers or rosy coloured glasses - just that not every comment is always the same thing - that Saputo sucks.

1. I have been around the Impact even longer than you - going back to the inception of the team. Setting aside his faults and I agree there are some blatant ones, I give him credit for all he has done for soccer in this city and province. He built this singlehandedly. He has spent a lot of money without any return (yes I understand he will recoup much of it if he ever sells). He got a MLS franchise for this city - something no one ever gives him credit for. He built a soccer facility without public funding. As for nepotism, every privately owned business/enterprise/entity is subject to this. Tell me who is the president of the New England Patriots?(That would be his son) How many of Jerry Jones's kids work for the Cowboys (3 is the right answer), who is the CEO of the Bruins? (that would be Jacobs son. How about the Chicago Black Hawks....and the list goes on and on.

2. Regarding Nancy - president's going to the players room after a game is part of soccer culture. Nancy wanted out and used it as an excuse. Saputo clearly wanted him back and I lost a little respect for Nancy the way he navigated his exit. Not saying the Saputo is not responsible - but context is important.

3. As for investments - you can be against the new track CF Montreal has taken (youngsters, development, sell) but how can you call Saputo cheap without mentioning all the top players/coaches he brought to Montreal (Drogba, DiViao, Piatti, Nesta, Henry to name a few) in the previous decade at a significant cost to the bottom line? He has proven in the past a willingness to spend in the past. Also, as Toronto has proven, spending does not equate to success.

4. I was against the rebranding big time and I blamed Saputo for that because ultimately this goes to the top. That being said, this was a Gilmore project and Gilmore was hired in response to many of the fanbase/media wanting Saputo with a hands off approach. He also somewhat admitted error and rectifies as best he could.

Now would I prefer some deep pocket Quebec owner to buy the team from Saputo? If you can guarantee that the team will not move, then yes. Do I believe that entity/owner exists? Not sure. Peladeau - probably the richest man in Quebec bought the ALs and still has not significantly spent a lot of money given that he bought he team for the debt. His still playing in a dilapidated. embarrassment of a stadium with no solution in sight. In terms of professionalism and investment, CF Montreal is light years ahead. The have their own stadium, not spectacular but acceptable and a state of the art training facility that again Saputo invested in.

Gerber is going to have a massive season for us, I can feel it.

What a f***ing grab by Saputo.

I know someone said that he was expecting him to be our MVP this season. Feels a bit weird.

That said. I'm not expecting us to finish at the bottom. I'm expecting some "mid-table" finish. I've said it in the past, I'll say it again: Money doesn't guarantee success in MLS.
