NHL Central Scouting Releases Final 2025 Rankings | Calgary Flames
2025 NHL Draft to be held June 27-28

The reason for Central Scouting’s existence is to inform and support NHL teams. Most of that happens behind the scenes but it makes sense to release their final list before the biggest scouting tournament and playoffs.Still blows my mind every year that they release their final rankings prior to the completion of the CHL playoffs, U18s, Memorial Cup, etc...

No, I meant what I said. Their job isn’t to rank the guy who tore up the U18s with 150 NHL scouts and every GM watching. It’s to make sure the 150 scouts and GMs are aware of the Lithuanian kid at the Div 2A U18s.I assume you mean it makes no sense, right?
A kid could break out with a massive performance at the U18s later this month and shoot up draft boards, yet their rankings will remain unchanged due to unnecessarily releasing their final rankings months over two months before draft day.
Doesn't make much sense to me.
Hate that they split up Europe and North America, do one list for everyone
The service exists to help NHL scouting departments. The early release allows scouts to re-focus their schedule if needed.Still blows my mind every year that they release their final rankings prior to the completion of the CHL playoffs, U18s, Memorial Cup, etc...
What are you guys eating over there?Nice to mrtka at 5. Psnecka higher than I thought. Based on this.. maybe benak gets taken? Nestrasil a 3rd rounder?
From euro side.. cihar is nice and high.
Stevatek and orsula are lower than I would hope. So is poletin.
Looking like Czechs will have about 4 guys in top 100 (mrtka, psnecka, cihar and nestrasil) and about 8 guys overall (Benak and stebatak).
Hoping galvas goes an an overager. Doesn't feel like we will hit ten despite such consistent junior showings the last several years.
Not saying it's wrong. Just hoping for more
Need to get benak and galvas on the Mrtka and psnecka duets.lol.What are you guys eating over there?
You seem to feel pretty strongly about this. I can't imagine speaking with such certainty about where 17 and 18 year olds will be in 6 years or so.Having Joke O’Brien ranked ahead of Porter Martone is absolutely laughable.
Having watched both players in person many times over the past three seasons, I can assure you that Martone will be a much better NHL player than O’Brien could ever dream of being.
I can’t imagine any team picking in the top five would ever make such a dumb pick, but taking O’Brien ahead of Martone would be a catastrophic franchise altering mistake.

Yeah but NA Scouts are very regional also, there are those in the Q, OHL, WHL, and then everything U.S. I don't really buy that.It may not be convenient, but I think it's simply what the process is. Scouts are regional, and their inputs are likely combined on the continent level if you will. Combining their input together into a single list would be exponentially more complicated and less reliable.
The reason teams are higher on O'brien is because he plays Center and has improved immensely. He has a great physical build at 6'2" with room to fill out. Coaches in the OHL polled him for having a higher hockey IQ and playmaking skills than Martone. Clearly there are people out there that think highly of himI’m 100% certain that Porter Martone will be a better NHL player than Joke O’Brien. He’s superior in every aspect - - better shot, better playmaker and infinitely more physical.
O’Brien is a smart player and relies more on hockey sense than physical ability to dominate at the OHL level. That’s not going to play at the NHL level.
Last year I had the same certainty about Beckett Sennecke and we all know how that turned out. The only thing I worry about with Sennecke is his maturity level.
He is overrated though IMO. Physically he is a project, his shot isnt that good and doesnt protect his puck too well. I think both O'Brien and Martin are overrated, but thats a weak draft for euros so they will go higher than they should.Calling him Joke O'Brien is a pretty good way to make sure your comment lose credibility

This is supposed to be a feather in your cap. Why he hasn't proven anything yet, if anything he looks like a bad pick at 3rd overall.I’m 100% certain that Porter Martone will be a better NHL player than Joke O’Brien.
