I know they were out for a while, but taking your top group off the ice (Stankoven & Bourque in that group) with 59 seconds to go is a wild move. Results in an empty net goal against and Texas will lose 5-3.

AHL All-Star skills competition is right now. Stankoven, Blumel, and Bourque are there for Texas.

Bourque is in the puck control relay and pass and score competition.
Blumel for fastest skater and hardest shot competition

Stankoven is in the accuracy shooting challenge, pass and score challenge

All 3 players are also in the shootout/breakaway challenge.

Bourque's lack of speed showed up in the puck control relay (which starts with a race across the ice) so he lost some ground, but Stankoven got it all back and won for his team.

He was several strides behind until they got to the puck control part and he dominated there. That's his strong point so it makes sense. I must've missed it but he wasn't listed to participate in this competition

Blumel with 13.645 on the fastest skater. Very fast. Fastest so far. The record holder will be participating as well

Edit: the record holder just got 13 seconds so he beats Blumel. That's slower than his previous time too. Ethen Frank

Blumel sits in 3rd now for it someone else also just beat his time. Some really fast guys in this competition jeez

Blumel hits 90.8 mph and 93 mph in the hardest shot challenge. He was shooting high, if he puts it lower he probably gets much better numbers.

Riley Tufte won with 100.9 mph

Stankoven did alright in the accuracy challenge. Nothing crazy tho he got 3 of the 4 targets before time expired/he ran out of pucks. They put a time limit in the AHL it's kinda nice. He mightve actually got the 4th target too I just realized they don't break everytime they're hit

The other top AHL rookie Brandt Clarke went 4/4. Only the 5th AHL player ever to do so
