Any chance we can make Strome move in with Wilson and train all off-season?😂 He needs to do whatever Willy and Pro did to improve their skating. He and Ovie together isn't tenable against Carolina and other high pressure teams in the playoffs.

I’m not even upset. Weirdly. Sure, couldn’t have stolen another game or 2 from the Asshole Canes?

You bet we could have. And I loathe the Canes and RBA. Guy is a total weasel. I’ve never ever EVER seen him recognize that his team actually should get a penalty. Hes a clown of the first order, and losing to him chafes me.

That said?

Neither of these teams was going to win it all. No chance. Florida is Florida, and I think Edmonton is inevitable. That and Dallas is crazy good.

So we had a GREAT season, Carbs keeps learning what it takes to win the playoffs (made it another round further, and on we climb!), and the FO now knows what it needs to do.

I am good. Sorry if some of you aren’t, and I get that, but the Caps had an amazingly fun season.

Let’s cheers to that, not lament what was going to happen anyway. 😊😊

And @AlexModvechkin8 — thought you were starting the game thread? Shades of 2018?

Yup are now culpable my man!!! 😂😂

Even by my goalie standards I dislike those goals LT let get by him, but at the same time there is lineup of forwards/d-man to play as a team! If the goalie is bit off, then the D and Forwards pick it up for the goalie and vice versa! Caps didn't play well enough as a team to score more goals against the Canes.

Andersen showed better poise at times than LT, but remember LT had only played 4 playoff games prior compared to his 10 playoff games alone for this season. Andersen now has 80 playoff games of experience, 2.36 GAA, .916 SV%. A couple more playoff games and Andersen will have played his 2nd most games in a playoff season since '15 playoffs(16)! LT finished this playoffs 5-5, 2.41 GAA, .917 SV%. All together he is 7-7, 2.40 GAA, .918 SV%. Compare LT's 1st playoff stint with the Caps and with other Caps goalies of the past, and show me how much worse or better he did than the others?! If I recall, Kolzig/Holtby(the two best goalies in Caps playoff history) had to deal with very similar issues not getting enough goal support when both started their playoff careers!

Going back to that 2nd Canes goal, the puck had eyes because LT never saw that puck come off the stick blade of Svechnikov! Honestly, I still don't know how that went in! Did it change direction off any Caps players?

So, with all your goalie expertise, you're at home posting instead of competing for a roster spot on the Caps? Life is simply not fair...is it?

LT was very good until about Game 3 of this series and then just lost his game,

They didn’t lose because of him but he sure could have helped them make the 7 game series it should have been,

Congrats to Carolina. Definitely the better team. I'd rather the caps be beat by a better team than other more horrific ways they exited the playoffs when that was not the case.
Yeah, they came to win and we just looked happy to be past the first round. Make the right moves in the offseason and be stronger in 25-26.

Sure, okay! Caps goal scoring Games 3 - 5. You tell me how you win games scoring 0, 2, and 1 goals?! Game 3 the team had nothing and fell apart defensively at times. Game 4 they got within 1 twice, but had too many breakdowns that led to Canes goals. The 5th goal was an empty net. Game 6 they pushed back after falling behind 1-0, it looked like they were up 2-1, but they were offsides by maybe a half a skate blade.

Yeah the Strome contract I am fine with because of cost and term. But this PLD contract scares the hell out of me.
I agree. He was good enough in the regular season, but I didn't feel any playoff urgency from him. And, given his past issues, it's hard to know what is going on in that head. Six more years......need to keep the fingers crossed.

@895 owes everyone a beer, @AlexModvechkin8 should have made the game thread...
OMG, stop b*tching about that! @895 owes ppl nothing! You know what, if some of you were so gun ho about @AlexModvechkin8 doing the GDT, then you should have squashed this thread earlier in the day while you had time plenty of time to do it! I had suggested to merge the GDT's together, which I know is possible! @AlexModvechkin8 could have done his GDT intro or whatever he wanted to do, and then you merge all the posts into that new GDT!

It was just a joke my friend, trying to keep things light hearted :)

Well just back from the game. Is this really the GDT (Cccmmm). Interesting. Couldn’t bear to read through this.

Sad ending to a good and fun year. Losing sucks. But agree with @Ridley Simon that we again exceeded expectations. People grow. Coaches grow. Good fun pipeline of young talent. Lots to be proud of and excited for.

That is on Carbs for not finding a way to get more offense from PLD! Frankly, Carbs did not get a lot of offense from many other players as well! When you look at the whole picture, not having Fever threw the d-pairings off and not having Protas healthy enough and missing almost a whole 1st round, messed the forward lines as well. Missing of Fever/Protas is like having parts of cars engine missing, but the car is still able to run!

I will say it for like the 3rd/4th time! Scratching the fastest player on either team for the playoffs was a big mistake of fully understanding the speed of the Habs/Canes! Ethan Frank had playoff experience with the Bears in their back2back Calder Cup wins. That could have been carried over to the Caps 3rd line, especially in this series against the Canes!

I would have liked to have seen Frank.

The book on our game came together around the 3/4 mark of the season and teams figured us out. The way we played in the playoffs wasn't really surprising. We'd been trending the wrong direction for quite awhile and it was never righted. Need to reduce ice time for some guys next year and dump all the dead weight from this roster that isn't under contract next season.

LOL. Frank wasn’t going to make a difference @SherVaughn30. He’s small, and easily pushed off the puck. He didn’t do hardly anything over the last whatever amount of games he played.

You championing the G, while lamenting the coaching, is kinda funny.

Caps just didn’t have the horses.

You honestly think they could’ve beaten Florida or Edmonton/Dallas? It would’ve been 1990 all over again. Not even 1998.

If you do think they’d have beaten those teams??

I will have what your ingesting please — would make life a LOT easier!!!

After watching the Vegas game I thought “I can see the caps doing that” and it happened. Two bad goals in a 2-1 game, and no offense in a do or die. I will say it again, the top 6 C is what needs upgraded. We got nothing from those two and our offense was sad. Let PLD fix the 3C spot.

On a bright side a second round loss is way above last year and what I was expecting pre-season. We are set up well to continue the post Ovie transition and I’m excited for the future.

I would have easily taken if the Caps had moved onto the ECF and even got swept! Do you not look at their history and see they have only made it past the 2nd round 3 times('90, '98, and '18) in their long playoff history?! Caps must have one of worst playoff histories advancing to the 2nd half of the playoffs!
