Is it too early to discuss or compare playoff match ups? We know the top teams are running away with it but does anyone see or predict teams sliding into a playoff position in the next 10+ games

Guaranteed playoff teams.

Martin - Ottawa West, Casselman, Metcalfe

Richardson - Perth, Arnprior, Richmond ( Not necessarily in that order)

Wildcard matchups as of today.

WC - Clarence vs Winchester / Alexandria (I believe WIN will get in)

WC - Athens vs Westport

I believe the wildcards are seeded 1 thru 4. That makes the current matchups Athens v Winchester and Westport v Clarence.

Checking the scores from last night. I see Westport just got a lot tougher and some help on the back end with #3 WS playing his first game.

Play offs this year stay in division so matchups are Westport vs Athens and Clarence vs Winchester I cant see Alexandria getting in they are really struggling lately and will need a big run to catch Winchester.

The schedule is not balanced by any rhyme or reason except proximity to some degree
but the divisions matter for play offs. I think they need to revisit the schedule to make it consistent as far as how many times you play in division and out if they use this format.
Wild card round is done in one week 2 out of 3 then winners slot in as #4 for best of 7.

If it's 4th v 5th on each side instead of the next best 4 records after the top six then the wild card round is stupid. Why should the 4th place team at the end of the season have to win two more games to advance. They played a whole season to grab the last playofff spot.

$$$$$$$$

simple answer-plus more teams keeps interest up
plus hopefully stops the games where teams go out and just try to goon it up knowing they are done ala Prescott

I see Casselman has a few players that left to play JR C listed as APJ. Does this mean as soon as the JR C season is over they will be back in the CCHL2?

I think the $$ factor will be significant. Especially that Athens Westport matchup Im sure both teams would love to have that series be even longer, both teams will draw well (for the league) I know I will buy a 50/50 ticket!

Looks like the Vikings are starting to peak with 7 straight wins in 2017.
The upcoming tilt against the Knights will be a good test before the playoffs kick in next month.

I see some arenas are still using nets with little stubs to hold them in place - one sneeze and they're knocked off for a whistle...

300 fans at Westport at Athens game-in terms of this league I would say that is a pretty good gate. It was also a very fast paced game.

Not the point. What if the 5th place team on one side was 20 pts behind 4th. How is it a "wildcard" series if there are teams with way higher point totals in the other conference that get bumped. It's lame!

OJC Moving?

Has anyone else heard that OJC is looking to move to Armstrong to take over the void left when the Jr A Rangers move to Rockland?

Yes a parent from the team told me that in November. He thinks attendance would be higher then it is now but I doubt it when Rangers can't even draw fans.
