The first two pages of this GDT are hilarious.

I'd like to thank Jordin Toomuch for waking our team.

Jarmo is 1-0 in the house!

watched the whole thing and I was very impressed with the way the team responded after Artem's injury.

This team is still going to lose a lot more than they win, but, hopefully, games like this one prove they won't quit.

Hmmm, surprisingly not all that inaccurate years later, not bad.

Grats to the boys. Played a good road game after the first 3 or 4 minutes. My real reaction from last nights game is really, "Man this is not anything close to the Detroit team of the past.". Do we think that we score that third goal with Lindstom on the ice?

They are going to win games, but that is going to be because of forward skill.

In what way? Not saying your wrong, I just didn't really notice a shift in dynamic.

From what I saw (second half) he was always hustling, out skating every body and generating offense. We would have lost that game without him. Whether he keeps it up is a whole other story.

Odd, I thought Calvert was doing that as well. We've got some guys generating chances and we do have some hustle out there. Calvert and Aktinson just have the benefit of more speed and pretty good shots, Atkinson appearing to have a little more on the shot side but Calvert is certainly well above average in that department - especially on this team.

Ultimately I think you have a, for this team, good opportunity to have mismatch problems on two lines. One with Calvert, the other with Atkinson. Both can burn you on any shift. We don't have much, but we do that have that if we can keep both in the lineup.

I was impressed with some of the creativity that Atkinson had last night, one move really impressed me. Calvert and Foligno probably had a night, last night, they probably want to forget but otherwise they've been very good on this road trip.

I think this team can, for the most part, skate with pretty much anyone. Our 5 on 5 play is improving. We have some needs, but for the first time I feel like we can fill a lot of them in house.

For all the dumping that has been on Dorse, and some of it deserved, he is actually starting to be more than just a one dimensional role player. When the top six gets more established, he could very well end up helping us with some secondary scoring. I don't think he'll ever be anything resembling a consistent threat, but I don't think that 10+ goals from last season is a fluke. He could end up as a 30 point guy.

Fair analysis and accurate. At the same time, I do like that his passing ability is slowly improving.

Like before, I think Dorse is a work in progress. Because this is the Jackets he's been given an opportunity to develop that other teams wouldn't have. Long term, I think it's going to benefit us in the future especially when he ends up back in his proper role.

As it will when ALL are properly slotted.

If I remember correctly, Dorse credited Prospal's influence and mentoring for his developing a new, more well-rounded game perspective last year. Sort of encouraged Dorse to see himself as more than an agitator.

If so, that sort of influence and encouragement toward the young guys is exactly why we need a guy like VP around this team...long after his playing days are over.

In the end, it's still a game. Prospal's love and enthusiasm for the game will reap big rewards for this team now and in the future.

Except his handshake deal which would keep him with the team in perpetuity was made with a man who is no longer in a position to honor that agreement.

True and I have, obviously, no way of knowing how that will work out. What I can't imagine, though, is that it hasn't somehow been addressed between JD and Vinny.

True. I was thinking about that as I typed. However, I'm hoping that it is honored for the very reasons I posted.

sure like to know how AA is doing..

can't get enough of the GWG last night. It's not often the Jackets do things like that. VP's finish was just terrific, but the whole play was pro. I like what Wisniewski does for this team.

Calvert has really impressed me so far, he hasn't shown consistence when it comes to scoring, but he has been able to show consistent play making abilities with his speed.

P. S. It's super hard to type analysis on a phone at work in 5 min intervals

First, I agree that while Atkinson certainly was solid last night, I don't think the team made any big leap forward with him in the lineup. He played very well, but we've been playing much of the same game since the SJ home victory. We've just been coming up short, losing 3 road games basically by a goal in each.

The PP looked good, much better than say the LAK game. Having a semi healthy defense helps.

Calvert - Dubinsky(Anisimov(MacKenzie)) - Foligno is a solid line and I hope those two and which ever healthy center have, stay together. Calvert has been hands down the most pleasant suprise for me this season. Woops i forgot Letestu :)

MacKenzie has been great, strong utility player for the bottom six, that actually can impact the outcome of games. I like him more every night.

Its very cliche, but this team has been the victim of injuries. You look at this 5 game stretch, the goal tending has been good (not great), the defense, when healthy, has looked pretty good, and offense (when healthy) has been sticky and productive.

I think we're going to see Kekalainen wield more of scalpal when revamping this team and less of a hatchet. I know I'm an optimist and I tend to look for the strengths in this team while downplaying the weaknesses, but I like the feel of what we have here, and hope guys like AA, Vinny, Dubinsky, Foligno, Calvert, Atkinson, McKenzie, Letestu, Dorse, and Boll will be part of the future. Brassard I'm less optimistic about, and RJ at this point has 30 or so games to work out his game (I think its coming around at last). I don't see RJ being a good candidate to move at the deadline, mostly because the return won't be good.

I agree. I like everything about Prospal, except his skating. Man has he lost a step. But he can still score goals, and for the right price, we can't turn that down imo. Thats not to mention his effect on the team.

I see Calvert as being a solid 2nd/3rd line winger. He out-hustles everyone and at 5'11" 190 (the site lists him as 5'10" 187 but those stats are outdated) I don't think his stature will be as much a concern at the NHL level as it was in 2011. His shot is decent and he can make passes. I still see him as a predominantly North/South player though.

Atkinson has the skills to be a top line winger. He has speed, playmaking ability, and a very good shot. Meanwhile he isn't a pushover and has good puck possession. Hopefully he stays healthy, gets regular ice time, and can have decent teammates. That would really help his development and confidence.
