I’d be happy with competent goaltending. Somehow Vegas got Hill, Edm got Skinner, Avs got Blackwood. Can we just that kind of upgrade without mortgaging more than we need to?

That's an awfully big gamble after this season and losing the other half of that tandem goalie situation they had.

Kinda wondered the same with Saros, would Nashville hit the panic button on that contract early but same story, major gamble.

Waddell and Carolina had a habit of looking for mid tier goalies that are just good enough. Good enough is an upgrade for us

If this is the game that gets Evason to give up on Elvis, Kuraly, and Kunin, then it might be fruitful. There's a lot of games left. Tarasov, Jet, JVR, and Chinakhov hopefully can come in.

I don't think that's close to true. I think we have moderately below average goaltending on average. The numbers sometimes look worse because of how badly we defend the dangerous areas.

But average goaltending would have us in a playoff spot and that is hard enough to stomach right now.

Edit: Per the goals saved above/below expected chart a few posts above us, our goalies are a combined 7 goals saved under expected and Hellebuyck is 35 goals saved above expected.

I don't think that he really has a choice at this point.

I thought we needed 4 points in the next 4 games (including tonight). We're not dead. But if the turnaround isn't imminent, then we are.
