Confirmed with Link: CBJ sign college UFA Jack Williams to 2 year ELC

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
I don't think the CBJ ever really pursued the absolute top college free agents in the past. I feel like we always went for depth character guys who may or may not pan out. Which is legitimately most undrafted players coming out of college but we never really put the work in to sign any big dogs coming out of NCAA.

Perhaps DW wants to be more aggressive in that route.

Why wouldn't we have pursued the top college free agents? Doesn't it seem more likely that we did pursue them?

I'm also not sure I remember who those players were, they usually don't amount to being good NHLers, often not any different career wise than Dunne or Robinson.

The format doesn't allow for the appropriate consideration for choices of that kind.

Yesterday, I sent a work email and referred to something as a "known quantity" when I should have called it a "known commodity" and I do wording for a living.

Anyway, I'm hoping Scheig would agree with Viqsi re: a better word choice.

I'm just especially sensitive to Proper Word Choice of late because I'm working on the final draft of the obituary for my late namesake aunt.

per portzline, williams is not eligible for the AHL this year including AHL playoffs so he will be up with the big club for the remainder of the season.

Reading about his style of play and how he is as a teammate, i see him being on the team next year. Maybe as a Danforth/Kuraly/Kunin replacement.

Really good article by AP. I know the majority of college free agents don’t amount to much but I am rooting for him. Sounds like our kind of player. Also really like the way the CBJ recruited him and the metaphor used ‘fishing with a spear’.

Article just left me thinking how much things have changed in less than a year under GMDW and HCDE. And the vibe in the room. Z’s leadership reaching out to the kids after he signed too.

I had to look him up...I started really following hockey closely just about the time he hung up his skates.
I wasn't even born yet . But everything from the stick riding celebration to the fearless attitude to the... straight up assault haha. Guess he was shown a lot more in Canada

Dude had a 35 goal 343PIM season which is crazy to even think about
